This was the 1st book, people within the breed suggested that I buy. The author has an excellent knowledge of the breed. If you are looking of a companion (pet) or a potential competitive dog (obedience, agility, show or field) read this book. There are lots of pictures so you can see different types (looks) that exist in the breed. This book helped me a lot an I referr to it all the time.

When the kids were grown and gone, with kids of their own, I felt I needed a dog to bring back some activity into the house. I bought this book after investigating a number of internet sites and narrowing my choices to vizslas and a couple of other breeds. This book sold me on the vizsla, as well as on searching the vizsla rescue sites for the perfect dog. Not only is the dog a great companion, he's smart, quickly trainable, great with kids and lovable to a fault. His curiosity knows no bounds and often results in comical situations.

Get this book and then get a vizsla. His gratitude will overwhelm you.

Well worth the price when you consider the volumes of information given by Coffman. Compared to other books which are vague on the breed and give only common sense care tips, this book is above and beyond. Every Vizsla lover needs this book.

What an outstanding collection of information on the Hungarian Shorthaired Pointer. A sine qua non for those wanting information on the vizsla: ancestory, breeding, history, personality, behavior, mood, training, feeding, grooming, health care. Ms. Coffman covers every aspect, from interesting general knowledge to practical information and advice. I have owned a vizsla for a year and this book has enhanced the enjoyment of my the dog as an animal, a pet and a extraordinary companion. If you are contemplating acquiring a vizsla or are an owner looking for insight and guidance, I recommend this book to you as being well worth the price.

This is an excellent book with so much information on Vizsla's. It is practical and will help you better understand this breed and how they work and think. I would recommend it to any new owner or anyone interested in learning the right way to care for, train and enjoy this wonderful dog breed.

This book was right on target with my new Vizsla puppy. It has tons of information, including breed history, AKC standard, growth guidelines, etc. I gave this book 4 stars because it included pictures, but they weren't in color. I feel that for the price, they could've included a few color pictures. This book really sums up the breed very well. I would recommend it to any new Vizsla owner!

This book is the best book that I have found on Vizsla's. We orginally purchased the book when we were researching the breed. This helped us to decide the Vizsla was the dog for us. It covers everything from their history, breed characteristics, caring for them, training them, and even breeding them.

These are wonderful dogs, and this book is a must have!
