Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4 Up–These 19 poems celebrate fathers and their role in families. Most of the selections are written from an adult perspective, as the narrators look back to childhood and remember all that their dads were and did and how much is owed to them. Sentimental in tone, the overriding message is of love, appreciation, and respect for a father who was always there–strong, faithful, and dependable. Illustrations of loving, multicultural families are drawn in muted tones on beige backgrounds, complementing the hushed, reverent tone. Collections with more child appeal include Myra Cohn Livingston's Poems for Fathers (Holiday, 1989; o.p.), Mary Ann Hoberman's Fathers, Mothers, Sisters, Brothers (Turtleback, 1993), In Daddy's Arms I Am Tall (Lee & Low, 2000), and John Micklos's Daddy Poems (Boyds Mills, 2003).–Sally R. Dow, Ossining Public Library, NY

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated and moving poetry February 23, 2004
Format:Hardcover
This small book packs a big message. Dads are the best and closest heroes to our hearts. Illustrated with glowing pastel art this book will alternately move the reader to laughter and tears. Poignantly written with the heart of the author apparent in every word, this gift book will be the treasure of it's lucky recipient for years to come. Give it for Father's Day, birthday, Christmas, or anytime you just want to tell Dad - "thanks for being you!"
A must have!!
