4.0 out of 5 stars Fast read from an unknown author February 6, 2013
By J Lo
Format:Kindle Edition
This story isn't bad for a first attempt. It was a short, quick read, and you're dropped into the story feet first; it's sink or swim, baby. Details are glossed over in favor of dialogue and plot movement, so you'll have to rely on your imagination a bit. Some aspects are a little farfetched, but it's sci-fi, so I believe it's allowed. Watch the italics - they jump up in more than a few places with very little break or indicators, so you've got to be aware of them. If you're looking for an easy read that lets your mind touch on some emotion in a few different ways, you might want to start with this. Ends with an ellipses and a 'to be continued', so be warned that you won't get the whole dose in one shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Praise for C.M. Adams February 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've been a syfy fan for more years than I care to reveal so this book was a delicious little treat! My only complaint? It wasn't long enough! I connected from the very start with Birdie and her love for her brother, Brian...Being able to follow her through all of the emotional upheaval and then the rather unsettling situations she finds herself embroiled in later has me well and truly hooked.
I hope that the second installment is ready to publish soon as I am now more than ready to dive deeper into this incredibly futuristic world!
Well done, C.M...well done!

I must first point out that as a person who takes entertainment seriously, I cannot find the energy to applaud any work that does not draw me into the story. I must be able to connect to the world that I immerse myself in. CM Adams drew me into this world and allowed me to ride along with Birdie Farran through her hectic life and death. If you want in on the beginning of a series that has great potential, you should buy this book. Now if you will excuse me I have to pester this author for the next installment.

4.0 out of 5 stars has potential August 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
this is a great start, it's got me anxiously awaiting the next installment. I got confused in a couple places about the scenery and the plot line, but I think I figured them out. I will definitely keep reading this series

4.0 out of 5 stars Wish it was longer August 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am always a little skeptical when I buy books online, however, I went ahead and purchased this one. I wasn't disappointed. The story grabbed my attention and brought me into it like not many books have been able to in the past few months. It's fantastic and I would recommend it. However, it gets only a 4 stars because it is rather short. Just as the plot feels like it's really started to swing into gear you turn the page and are left with a rather abrupt cliff hanger. Good read, but short. I'm looking forward to the next books.

4.0 out of 5 stars read in one sitting July 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is not the normal type of book I would read, but I was captivated by Birdie and her relationship with her brother. Once I opened it, I couldn't put it away!
There were a couple minor typos that had me do a double check, but they weren't discouraging. Still, I wish there had been more... I am a huge fan of cliffhangers-- I use them quite often myself-- but I felt there should have been a little smidgen more to the story itself.
All in all, a very creative and intriguing story! I'm hoping to get my hands on the next book sometime in the near future! A-

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow Start But Stay With It July 22, 2013
By Ally
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In spite of a slow and rather confusing start, I very much enjoyed this book and will be reading the sequel. The pace was good, the plot was consistent and not unrealistic for the situation. If you enjoy sci-fi and the fantastic, this is definitely a worthwhile read!

More About the Author

Adams was raised in upstate New York where she had originally aspired to be a veterinarian. Dreams thwarted by the realization, at age 12, that the profession included putting animals to sleep, she instead decided that she'd much rather be cryogenically frozen until the age of Starfleet Command came along. Sadly, her parents told her that this wasn't a possibility. This is about the time when she began writing, but it was simply for fun and something that she found herself spending more and more time doing.

Other career aspirations led her into 4 years of college studying psychology, criminology, education and computer technology. But nothing ever quite kept her interest. Writing was still highly integrated into everything she did, but it had been a private thing.

After growing some confidence by anonymously writing and posting fanfiction online, she decided to take things further and use the art of unprofitable writing in order to create an event to raise money for charities. Fandom Author's Note is an unofficial organization that runs an author convention solely for writers and readers of fanfiction to come together and meet face to face while raising money for charity at the same time. These writers come from all over and share their story of how they got into writing, and how fanfiction changed their life. The biggest way it has done so, for many, are the fans.

Because of these fans, Adams was inspired to take the leap into original fiction and publishing.
