Product Description

Waterproof Case for Kindle

We have made several improvements to our original versions. The compartment for the device is more fitting. The front side is transparent. There are no more seams between the transparent window and the border in the front. This makes the case even more durable, yet provides more flexibility and area of interaction.

The WaterGuard(TM)Waterproof Case guards against any wet environment that Kindle 1,2,3 and Kindle Fire might be exposed to. It is a perfect companion when you bring your Kindle for beach reading. It provides great protection when you get stuck in a rainstorm or accidentally drop you bag in a wet surface. When using the WaterGuard case, the Kindle can be slipped directly into the WaterGuard pocket and the transparent surface provides easy interaction with the keyboard and navigation buttons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely useful for beach and poolside reading, May 1, 2009
This review is from: New Version TrendyDigital WaterGuard Waterproof Case for Kindle 1, 2,3 (First, Second and Third Generation Kindle), and Kindle Fire Android Tablet, Blue Border (Electronics)
So, I was leaving for vacation and realized less than a week before that I had nothing to protect my Kindle 2 at the beach. After consulting the forums, I ordered the Quik Tek 9x12 Dry Pak, but wasn't thrilled that it was so much bigger than my Kindle. I saw the Trendy Digital waterproof case, but noticed that the website said that product wasn't shipping until April 20th (2 days after I left!). Just to be sure, I sent the company an email, just asking if they could let me know if the ship date moved up at all, since that was the cover I really wanted. First thing Monday morning, I received an email from Mark in customer service, saying that they had a handful of the product in an early shipment for product reviewers, but given that I was leaving the country before the ship date, they'd be happy to let me have one of those few! And they upgraded my shipping so I could be sure to get it on time! Now THAT'S customer service!

The cover right out of the package- it was shipped folded in half in a pouch, so there's a slight bend in the vinyl, which is now nearly gone, after a quick hit with a low-heat blowdryer and some weight on it overnight.

The closure is a "double zip" (like a ziplock bag), which really is quadruple, since each "zipper" has two rows, and there are two sets. You then fold the zipped part down, and snap the outer closure together. Total time to close it took me about 15-20 seconds.

The Kindle 2 fits snugly in the cover, with a clear screen for the screen/buttons, and a blue matte border.

The page turn buttons and keyboard are easily accessible, and you can press them with no difficulty. The 5-way button is difficult to access, as it would be in any bag, but I did it a few times. I would suggest making sure you've selected the book and page you want to start from before putting it in the cover. There is some glare over the screen, but it's not distracting, and I can't imagine a way to make a cover like this glare-less without losing screen clarity.

There is also an adjustable lanyard-type string that the whole case hangs from.

I did the "paper towel test" (put a dry paper towel in the bag, seal it, then submerse the bag in water). Dry paper towel, so the watertightness seems very good.

On vacation, I abused it pretty heavily- sand, wind, water, and my Kindle stayed dry and happy. There was a slight glare/shadow in very direct sun, but just changing the angle at which I held the Kindle resolved that. I did end up with some surface scratches to the cover- I'm guessing from ground-in sand, but the cover remained water tight, and the scratches did not cause enough of an issue to be particularly distracting. The page turn buttons were very accessible, I did find myself sliding the on/off switch through the cover a few times with a fingernail, and happy to say my laziness (not wanting to undo the snaps and zips) did not compromise the strength of the cover. The five-way navigation button was fairly unusable, which I fully expected, but since, for the most part, my book was already selected, it was a non-issue.

In all, I'm very happy with this product, and incredibly impressed with Trendy Digital's customer service. I'm thrilled to be able to take this cover with me on vacation (and to the beach all summer!).

4.0 out of 5 stars Am I not cool?, December 26, 2010

This review is from: New Version TrendyDigital WaterGuard Waterproof Case for Kindle 1, 2,3 (First, Second and Third Generation Kindle), and Kindle Fire Android Tablet, Blue Border (Electronics)
This was by far one of the best purchases of my life. Yes, it is just basically a super solid ziplock bag, but I don't care. I read my Kindle why sitting in a pool drinking margs in Cabo San Lucas and you didn't. My girlfriend also could not stop making fun of me. I have no idea why the decided that this product needed a strap to wrap around your neck. What is the possible point of that? Looking like a bigger geek? It is bad enough that I have to remember to pack 24 different chargers every time I go on vacation for my Kindle, Laptop, Phone, DS, Ipod, etc. but now I am wearing a plastic Kindle protector around my neck? That is just a little much.

I don't have any fancy video to add (although I certainly watched that review pre-purchase and then demonstrated the same thing to any friends who would watch). The one slightly annoying thing is it is hard to slide the power button when the case is on... oh well, I was reading my kindle in a pool! How cool is that?!?!?! Why wouldn't you want to be reading your books while in a pool, pools are awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly functional waterproof case serves its purpose., April 30, 2009
This review is from: New Version TrendyDigital WaterGuard Waterproof Case for Kindle 1, 2,3 (First, Second and Third Generation Kindle), and Kindle Fire Android Tablet, Blue Border (Electronics)
I have used a book cover for K2 from trendydigital and like its design very much. So, I went ahead to get this waterproof case from them and used in my recent trip. I am quite pleased with how the case serves its purpose. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to bring the Kindle to the beach. The case has a very simple, yet effective design to function as a waterproof case. Getting the Kindle into the case, you simply unsnap the two snaps at the top and open the two rows of closure (similar to heavy duty zip lock type). Once the kindle is inside, you seal the closure and snap. It is sealed securely. The whole thing is simple and straightforward. While inside the case, the Kindle remains fully readable and all the side buttons and keyboard are fully functional. The five-way stick is less accessible, which I expected in this waterproof environment. I tested the waterproof feature on the case and it work fine. The contents inside the case are all dry my test. In all, I think this case is simple, yet elegant solution for using the kindle in a beach trip or bathtub reading. It is one for my favor accessories for K2.
