Product Description

Waterproof Case for Kindle

Since our introduction of waterproof case for the Kindle in April, 2009, we have constantly made improvements to this new category. Our waterproof cases for iPad and eReader have been recommended by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, ABC's The Revolution, Budget Travel and many others. We have made many improvements to our original modle. The compartment is more fitting. The front side is transparent. There are no more seams between the transparent window and the border in the front. This makes the case even more durable, yet provides more flexibility and area of interaction.

The WaterGuard(TM)Waterproof Case guards against any wet environment that Kindle 1,2,3 and Kindle Fire might be exposed to. It is a perfect companion when you bring your Kindle for beach reading. It provides great protection when you get stuck in a rainstorm or accidentally drop you bag in a wet surface. When using the WaterGuard case, the Kindle can be slipped directly into the WaterGuard pocket and the transparent surface provides easy interaction with the keyboard and navigation buttons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely useful for beach and poolside reading May 1, 2009
By RB
So, I was leaving for vacation and realized less than a week before that I had nothing to protect my Kindle 2 at the beach. After consulting the forums, I ordered the Quik Tek 9x12 Dry Pak, but wasn't thrilled that it was so much bigger than my Kindle. I saw the Trendy Digital waterproof case, but noticed that the website said that product wasn't shipping until April 20th (2 days after I left!). Just to be sure, I sent the company an email, just asking if they could let me know if the ship date moved up at all, since that was the cover I really wanted. First thing Monday morning, I received an email from Mark in customer service, saying that they had a handful of the product in an early shipment for product reviewers, but given that I was leaving the country before the ship date, they'd be happy to let me have one of those few! And they upgraded my shipping so I could be sure to get it on time! Now THAT'S customer service!

The cover right out of the package- it was shipped folded in half in a pouch, so there's a slight bend in the vinyl, which is now nearly gone, after a quick hit with a low-heat blowdryer and some weight on it overnight.

The closure is a "double zip" (like a ziplock bag), which really is quadruple, since each "zipper" has two rows, and there are two sets. You then fold the zipped part down, and snap the outer closure together. Total time to close it took me about 15-20 seconds.

The Kindle 2 fits snugly in the cover, with a clear screen for the screen/buttons, and a blue matte border.

The page turn buttons and keyboard are easily accessible, and you can press them with no difficulty. The 5-way button is difficult to access, as it would be in any bag, but I did it a few times.

4.0 out of 5 stars Am I not cool? December 26, 2010
This was by far one of the best purchases of my life. Yes, it is basically just a super solid ziplock bag, but I don't care. I read my Kindle while sitting in a pool drinking margs in Cabo San Lucas and you didn't. My girlfriend also could not stop making fun of me. I have no idea why the decided that this product needed a strap to wrap around your neck. What is the possible point of that? Looking like a bigger geek? It is bad enough that I have to remember to pack 24 different chargers every time I go on vacation for my Kindle, iPad, Laptop, Phone, DS, Ipod, etc. but now I am wearing a plastic Kindle protector around my neck? That is just a little much.

I don't have any fancy video to add (although I certainly watched that review pre-purchase and then demonstrated the same thing to any friends who would watch). The one slightly annoying thing is it is hard to slide the power button when the case is on... oh well, I was reading my kindle in a pool! How cool is that?!?!?! Why wouldn't you want to be reading your books while in a pool, pools are awesome.

UPDATE 9/6/12: Well, thanks to a trip to the Bahamas, my waterproof kindle case is no longer waterproof. Don't worry my old Kindle keyboard is still fine. This terrible accident occurred, not when I was being attacked by the Hammerhead sharks at Atlantis, but instead when I couldn't find a bottle opener so i tried to use my kindle to open my Corona. Can you believe it was unable to do the job? Talk about a 1-star deduction.

Also, I was tempted to combine my love of in-water reading and my love of lazy rivers, but the aforementioned girlfriend nixed that idea, even after she bought her own waterproof kindle case (a cheaper ebay variety that seems the exact same minus the writing of "trendy digital" on it).

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed July 1, 2009
In preparation for an upcoming beach vacation, I ordered the Waterguard Waterproof case for my Kindle 2 (TD019). I ordered it on 6/27 and it arrived 7/1. It came with no instructions, but a youtube video showed its use well. The pouch is nice looking and my Kindle 2 fit perfectly. It also fits (although snugly) with the Amazon case on the Kindle. In great excitement, I immediately tested it by submerging it in a sink filled with water and a piece of towel paper inside. Not only did the paper get wet, the pouch filled with water! I tested it multiple times, with the same result. Very disappointing and quite surprising!! I am in the process of requesting my $20.24 ($14.49 for the case and $5.75 s/h) returned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Accessory April 22, 2010

bought this cover to allow the use of my Kindle in the bath .I enjoy extended baths and love reading whilst soaking. This W/Proof enclosure does the job well the only draw back is the on/off switching is a bit difficult. It looks like this enclosure would even work underwater.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far, so waterproof! January 18, 2010

This was my upgrade from a ziploc bag for Kindle in-the-bath reading safety. The product is essentially a high-spec ziploc bag itself, but I have no concerns about its construction or ability to resist water. The case is a thick polythene bag with a double ziplock which folds down and is held in place by a fold-over flap which fastens with a couple of snappers. Bear in mind that it's not Kindle armor and it doesn't give you a license to use your device as a dive knife! I imagine something hard or sharp would cut through it pretty easily.

The Kindle is perfectly readable inside. Water slides right off the surface and it doesn't steam up or suffer from condensation (unless maybe you take damn cold baths!). I wish that the bag was a snugger fit, because the kindle slides about inside a little bit but not so you can't live with it.

The only caveat is that it is awkward to operate the Kindle's on-off slider and the main navigation joystick. Both of those controls require you to push sideways on them rather than straight down, and you have to dig into the plastic and stretch it a little to achieve that, which might cause a tear with repetition.

I'll see how long this one lasts but I'd definitely recommend one to anyone looking to waterproof their Kindle.
