Sharyn Sowell Cities
Verso Cities E-Reader Cover for Kindle Fire
By LightWedge

Artist Sharyn Sowell often works as an artist on board cruise ships, so she spends a lot of time traveling all over the world for work. “I found myself musing over the cities I’ve visited, thinking how some are breathtakingly beautiful, some haunting and mysterious, some serene,” says Sharyn. “Places fascinate me because they are the essence of the people who inhabit them.”

With the Verso Cities e-reader cover, Sharyn used fluid calligraphic letterforms to ink the names of cities she loves, cities she still wanted to visit, and cities she found compelling or fascinating. Much like a good book, she says, arriving in a city opens you up to its unique world of complexity and culture.

Wherever your travels take you, the Verso Cities e-reader cover is designed to stand up to the rigors of the journey. The synthetic cover stands up well to bouncing around in luggage while the interior is lined with advanced microfiber that provides maximum softness where it contacts your e-reader. An interior pocket keeps important documents or receipts, and silicone-striped corner elastic straps will firmly grip your e-reader for the lifetime of the device—guaranteed.

Art represents of a view of life expressed in terms unique to the artist. In the same way, literature represents a view of life expressed in words unique to the author. The Verso Artist Series brings the two together. When researching the type of artists and art we wanted to contribute to the Verso Artist series, we sought out work that encouraged an active interplay on the part of the viewer with visuals that sparked imagination and provoked thoughtful moments. We believe the ability to provoke such inner dialogue is the mark of both good art and good literature.

I bought this case for the Fire even though it doesn't actually say it's FOR the Fire. (Note, I purchased at a retail store and the pkg doesn't say for Kindle Fire, but I noticed online here it does say it's for the Fire). But it does fit, although tightly. I'm okay with a tight fit, it feels very secure in the cover and the cover itself is just gorgeous - very eye-catching. My only concern about this cover is durability of the elastic straps. If even one of the straps were to break you're totally screwed and the unit could fall out. But in looking online at other covers, even vastly more expensive ones, they pretty much all utilize the elastic straps. When I purchased this I tried to find anything about any kind of warranty on it, but could only find that it is made in China, nothing about a warranty. I'm keeping my eye on it and will continue to use it while I search for one with some type of holders that make me feel better about it.

STILL, I cannot emphasize enough that this is a gorgeous, well-made cover. It feels heavy and durable and I looked at a lot of covers, holding them and sliding my Fire in and out, and most of the others were very flimsy feeling. This is rock solid - it reminds me a lot of the red leather cover from Amazon that held my K3.

I saw another review of this that said the cover wouldn't close? I have not had that experience AT ALL - it closes completely. I think that reviewer may have been talking about a different cover entirely, because he mentions a magnet - there is no magnet built into this cover, and shouldn't be. What would it adhere to? My cover closes completely, bends back totally when I'm reading. No troubles at all.

Fits the Kindle Fire well. The elastic straps hold the Kindle firmly in place. Cover is very light weight and well made. After moving cover back and forth a few times to loosen binding, the cover closes flat. Because of the material used, the cover stands in portrait and landscape easily on any surface without sliding. The interior pocket allows my hand to slip in and comfortably hold the Kindle for reading. I love the red color and artful script used in this cover. I am very happy with my purchase.

The cover fits just fine and is definitely made for the Kindle Fire.

Go ahead, use what is apparently all your strength and coordination and put the elastics over each corner. it's tight so it holds the device safely in place...and it does very effectively.

If it wasn't this tight the same people would be complaining their Fire was falling out all the time.

If you still can't get it to fit, ask an old person to help you. Ah, America in the 21st century. Be careful; you might need knee pads, safety goggles and a bicycle helmet.

Love this cover! It is well made, beautiful and offers the feeling of holding a book when reading. It is a tight fit hope the elastic holds out. I have no problems with it closing. This case is superior quality with the feel of a fine leather bound book. I recomend this one.

I had doubts ordering the Verso Artist Series cover for my Kindle Fire because quite a few reviews said it didn't fit. Well, I love it! The elastic bands are not very stretchy so it was tight getting it in, but once in, it is very snug and secure. It is has a very high quality look and feel. I especially like the leather case with the cursive writing across the cover as it creates lots of little grooves for the fingers to rest in and keeps it quite comfortable in the hand. The interior feels like soft suede and is nice to the touch. When I first put the kindle fire into it there was a slight rise in the top cover and it wouldn't shut flat without a little pressure on it. For the first week I just turned it upside down when it was resting and now the cover lays flat all the time. I imagine that if you wanted to remove the kindle fire frequently this might not be the best cover for you, as it might stretch out the elastic bands, but for me, it will stay in the case and I couldn't be happier. It's a very classy and comfortable case.

The Verso artist series "Cities" cover is an excellent product. It is exactly as described, fits the Kindle Fire very well, and seems sturdy enough to protect the Kindle in daily use. If you're using your Kindle in extreme situations, you will need something sturdier, but for my level of use, carried in a briefcase or purse, this is perfect. The complaints about it not closing completely will be addressed by a few days' breaking-in period. The elastic straps, with a silicone lining, grip the Kindle, holding it firmly in place, and don't interfere with the use of the features that are accessed by touching the edge of the screen. Some cases which frame the device, while very secure, make it more difficult to wake up the virtual features such as turning wi-fi on and off. The case extends beyond the dimensions of the device, and this provides extra protection, as well as reducing accidental presses of the on-off button at the bottom of the Kindle. Overall, a really nice case for everyday use.
