Verso - E-reader and Tablet Essentials
LightWedge

Verso Scholar E-Reader Cover for Kindle Fire and Kindle Keyboard
Verso Scholar Cover for Kindle Fire and Kindle Keyboard
By LightWedge

The Verso Scholar cover brings the iconic style of a traditional composition book to today's digital world, complete with a marbled black and white design, "Composition" label and black spine. Once you hold it in your hands, nostalgia reigns.

The white interior is lined in blue to simulate the familiar pages of the classic notebook, bringing back an old-school look and feel we may be losing in our increasingly pixelated world.

Verso - Light it up!

Squinting. Overhead lights on airplanes. Bad hotel-room lighting. Grumbly spouses who don't understand why we won't just close the book, shut off the light, and go to sleep. And, yes, aging. These are all major life challenges that our Verso line of e-reader lights can help with, and we offer three unique versions to choose from.

All models fit the Kindle Touch, Kindle and Kindle Keyboard.

It fits perfectly on a kindle and kindle fire.

Today, however, the elastic straps on top that holds the tablet in place, has snapped off.

The look of this is very cool
Retro-chic and so old-school
Great for teacher/boss misleading
"Wow! She made notes - and she's reading!!"

The problem with the Verso Trends
Is that the cover twists and bends
Because it's mostly pliant plastic
With corner straps made of elastic

If by chance it takes a fall
There's no protection there at all
Without a strap to keep it shut
Your Kindle may just go kaput

In short, this cover's just for looks
To stash your Kindle with your books
A talking point, I will admit
But otherwise, it's just a nostalgic gimmick that's really cute, but not terribly durable*.

*(Not the last line you were expecting)

I really wanted this to give my kindle the old school notebook look.
It works great and looks really good. It looks like a real notebook.
The only issue I see is it is really overpriced for the quality, at almost $40.
I think it should be priced at $15-$20.

On the surface the Verso Trends Scholar for Kindle Fire is interesting. It holds ones Kindle Fire firmly, and it is sure to draw comments from others when they see it. HOWEVER, heaven help you if you drop it because testing this, on my bed, showed that half the time it opens and your Kindle Fire with hit the floor. If it had an elastic strap that would hold it shut, like the leather cover I use now, and costs only a few dollars more, I could give this a five star recommendation. I did notice there is a magnet embedded in the cover that keeps the cover shut when the product information cardboard piece is in it, but the magnet does not attach itself to the face of the Kindle Fire glass. Additionally, my other cover has where I can support my Kindle at an angle for viewing from a table top.

In showing it to my college student stepdaughter, she thought it looked great, and she could see a working woman having this in her purse, but she was concerned about it not staying shut.

What a charming, quirky, insanely cool cover for me Kindle! The second I saw this retro cover, I ordered it. See, I've been using the actual paper tablets with this cover since as long as I can remember: first in middle school, then uni, and now in my business. Yes, I've gone Hi-Tech with a tablet, my Kindle, a smart phone and Cloud storage but there's something to be said for actual paper files. The fact that this Kindle cover is a nod to those simpler times is sheer whimsey!

Fit is nice and tight, holds my Kindle easily with no slippage. Very light weight but sturdy to protect the screen. I also love the fact that to the casual observer (or thief), at first glance, this looks like an actual paper tablet. Kinda an ancient Theft Deterent! LOL

Everytime I see this cover, I smile. Who could ask for anything more?

I get so many complements on this cover whenever people see me reading. I have a Kindle Keyboard and it fits perfectly.

This case should not be sold for the Fire.... It simply does not have enough heft to support the weight of the Fire. Also, the device is too thick to comfortably fit into the elastic the way it is designed. If you drop the Fire in this case, I expect you will have a broken device.

It's OK for the Kindle Keyboard (in the house only if you just want a cute cover), but there are many, many better options out there: the MEdge cases, the Built plush sleeves, and the Timbuk2 memory foam envelope. I have them all for various devices, and they are far superior to this cover in every way. Also, the Snugg case is great for the Fire.

Any questions? Post a comment, and I'll get back to you.

Enjoy your device, and I hope this helps.

Happy Holidays!

This product is cheaply made. One of the straps broke within a week. I would not recommend this product to anyone. You could make one of these yourself out of cardboard and string and save the money.

I love this kindle case. I have always loved comp notebooks, ever since my first chemistry class. It's a cute cover, nothing gets in the way. The only thing I miss from my old case is the folding cover that can turn into a little stand for watching videos, but really, the fact that this cover doesn't have that feature is hardly noticeable in the way I use my kindle to watch media.
