Evolucion,
By Angel Perez "Ashir" (Caracas, Venezuela) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vertigo (Audio CD)
Romeo and Juliet (5/5): Punto y aparte. No me gusta nada. To be honest (4/5): No esta mal.

Fey's 'Ray of Light' makeover,
By Juan G (San Antonio, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vertigo (Audio CD)
I bought this CD expecting to hear the same old bubble gum pop stuff from her previous three cds. Instead, I found the CD to be quite entertaining. It is very reminiscent of Madonna's "Ray of Light." The lyrics are a bit introspective and the music itself borrows heavily from electronica and, at times, from trance. Considering the lack of artistic development that usually occurs with Latin artists, I think Fey definitely is making strides to expand her sound and create albums that actually have some sort of artistic credibility. Although the bubble gum pop influence is still somewhat present, it is definitely a step forward. Congratulations to Fey on a great new album. It was definitely worth the wait!

This hard-to-find double CD is an amazing piece of work by Fey. She definitely shows how she matured over the years, adding a more bluesy and serious side to her music. Yet the basis for all the music is electronica, with incredible harmonic dance beats that will keep you on your feet and send you to new worlds that Fey imagines.
Both Spanish and English versions are wonderfully done (definitely try to get the double CD version). Listening to the English version, Fey often sounds like Kylie Minogue at her recent best, or maybe better! Fey wants us to have fun listening to her sounds, never forgetting life's too short to stay down too long. Vertigo shows us the trail she's been down, and you can't resist traveling with her. Se Lo Que Vendra and Loca Por Amarte will melt your ability to sit still, I got tingling sensations just listening to them. The title track, Vertigo, has that effect too, enveloping you with unexpected rhythmic changes. Perhaps with some Fuerza del Destino Fey will continue to create again such magnificent and innovative sounds in the near future. This piece of work even surpasses Tierna La Noche in complexity, dance creativity and world of sound. Welcome back, Fey. Viva Fey, te amo!

Let's get one thing straight. Before "VERTIGO" I very much disliked Fey. I thought she was an annoying disposable pop singer. So I heard "Sé que lo vendrá" at a club and was like "that's Fey?". So I got this cd and was blown away! What a 180-turn for Fey. This album is electric-bliss. People say it's very "Ray Of Light", which I can see but it reminds me of female Moenia, another Mexican electro band. If you can track down the Mexican edition, do so. It is a double disc and has the English version of the album, which is even better in my opinion. This is truly her artistic awakening. It's a shame she was tied down to doing the "teen pop" thing for so long. Who knew Fey was capable of something as wonderful as "VERTIGO".

Fey's total evolution,
By
This review is from: Vertigo (Audio CD)
Fey's earlier music wasn't bad, but it just was disposable pop music "a la" Britney Spears. Personally I enjoy pop music, and I bought this CD expecting to listen to similar songs. But I was surprised! "Vertigo" features some of the best techo music I've ever heard. Fey actually makes electronic music sound deep and soulfull. Just listen to the title track or songs like "Dime", "Noche Ideal" or "Romeo & Juliet". As somebody said before, this CD reminds to Madonna's "Ray of Light" or some euro techno bands. The 4 year wait was worth it, Fey is back and better then ever!!

Fey returns with a renewed energy,
By
This review is from: Vertigo (Audio CD)
Well for all of us old school Fey fans this won't really give us what we have been waiting for which is an album with a lot of upbeat dance tracks. But this album is a great improvement over "el color de los suenos". In her latest album Fey returns with an electronic sound but its not dance, its more like electro-pop. Given that females havn't really done well in this genre, this is Fey so new ground might be broken. Although the songs are in spanish it seems that they were written to be sung in english and it makes some of the songs sound a bit akward. A few songs even include the original english vocals. Some of the better songs are loca por amarte and bailando toda la noche. The production is pretty good so that means that a lot of people will love it. If your a fey fan you'll like it too. Just don't go here if you are looking for the latest representation of the modern spanish dance sound.

Success Vertigo,
By Oscar Navarro "Osc" (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vertigo (Audio CD)
What a shame..... I don't mean this musically, but saleswise. Fey, after years of being Mexico's #1 pop star decided to leave the scenes suprisingly for three years. After much soul searching she decided she could not leave the music world and came back with her 4th full length album, VERTIGO. The first single "Se Lo Que Vendra" told us everything we needed to know about Fey's absence. She was now independent and self proclaimed.
But unfortunately her music label during this time, Sony Latin, decided not to back up this wonderful project of hers and so she left. She is not only commendable to putting this album out, but for continuing her musical career. VERTIGO, an album with songs composed by her, and with album art that shows a new, sexy, open, more "woman-ny" Fey than the forever adolesent Fey her fans grew up knowing, was her best project ever. Songs like "Siento Caer," and "Alma Gemela" show a Fey who knows how to love, "Romeo & Juliet" an expressive Fey on tragedy, and songs like "Se Lo Que Vendra" & "Vertigo" show a free Fey. But of course, being true to her pop roots she sings songs like "Loca Por Amarte" & "Noche Ideal" that you could swear you'd hear at a club. Fey, with a rollercoaster of a career, has her best album out, but with few who have listened. If you really want to know Fey, you can't know her without experiencing this vertigo with her. PS If you can, get the Mexican version with English songs(Don't really understand why) like "To Be Honest" & "Dark Angel" (Her best English song ever).

LOve It!,

This review is from: Vertigo (Audio CD)
I've been a long time Fey fan, even gone to her concerts, and I was totally excited when I saw that this CD was coming out 2 years ago. She was bound to not only come back, but with a bang and she did. With songs like Siento Caer, Alma Gemela, Se Lo Que Vendra, and Dime (Follow Me Down, The Way You Love Me, The Other Side and Show Me on the Mexican version of the CD) it is hard not to surrender yourself into this CD which reaches all the levels we all knew Fey was capable of. This is beyond and better than the Media Naranja. "La Fuerza Del Destino," a tribute to Mecano worth getting!
