"VERTX was created as a collaborative effort between Arc'teryx, Fechheimer, and federal law enforcement to produce a progressive tactical pant. The combined strength of Fechheimer`s 168 years of tailored garment production for law enforcement and military customers, Berkshire Hathaway's integrity and financial strength, Arc'teryx's world class design, and the authentic tactical direction of the federal law enforcement operators generated the functionally advanced Vertx pant."

Arc'Teryx design with Fechheimer's manufacturing. How can you go wrong? These guys make the uniforms for practically every law enforcement agency in the country, and many of the branches of the military (via Flying Cross). And they're huge supporters of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Now, about the pants. They're constructed of a heavy canvas type cotton with a 2% lycra blend to give them stretch and keep them from wrinkling. With articulated knees and a gusseted crotch they give you the freedom of movement you want in a tactical pant.

Tactical features include a hidden credentials flap in the back pockets (so you don't lose your wallet when things get a little crazy on the job, or when pick-pockets try a snatch-n-grab). The right front pocket has a hidden zipper pocket perfect for your loose bills or change. The front pockets also include a square notched cut so your folding knife doesn't clip on at a funny angle. The cargo pockets are recessed and lay flat so they don't scream "tacticool range pants" to everyone around. Inside each cargo pocket is a hidden pistol magazine pouch to hold your mags in place and keep them easily accessible. Have you ever tried to pull a mag out of your cargo pocket once it's tilted and the floor plate has gotten caught up inside the pocket?

I've been a pretty steady cargo pants wearing for decades now and have gone through various favorites. Right now the Vertex pant are my hands down favorite pants. The fact they are called 'tactical' can be misleading for these. One of the things that drew me to trying them is they don't look 'tactical' like every other offering in the market. The are quite low key, no button flaps on the rear or cargo pockets, no extra pockets littered about. The cargo pockets are rather small with a sew in flap. The pockets on the waist are cut well and made to carry a clip on knife, but without the giant moon cut pockets of other pants. The whole pant is low key and with a button up short looks nice different than any other quality dressy type cargo pants.

What does set them apart from dress focused pants is the fact that with Arc'Teryx design and Fechheimer's manufacturing they are tought as a tank. The fit is fantastic for me and they are made in a way as to not restrict movement. I can run, climb and do whatever I need to in these pants without feeling I am fighting against the design. The belt loops are well spaced and wide, which is perfect for a heavier belt need to support a holster. There is also a hidden pocket on the right hip pocket that zips for a low key but secure storage area.

All and all I think Vertx has a winner here. They have made a fantastic, solid and affordable pair of pants that doesn't scream tactical. For hiking and casual wear these pants are on the top of my list.

I wear 32" waist pants and I have some 34" pants/shorts that I can remove without unbuttoning or unzipping. I ordered 32" and they were very tight. I recommend buying a size up if you are considering.

I have been wearing 5.11 Tactical pants for a couple of years now, but I was looking for pants that were a little more low-profile. I saw photos of the Vertx pants online, and decided to gamble on a couple of pairs.
I am really impressed with the craftsmanship and attention to detail in these pants. The crotch allows an incredible amount of room for movement, and the knees are pleated, so the cuffs of your pants won't ride up over the tops of your boots every time you exit a vehicle or get into the kimchi squat.
The cargo pockets don't scream "Tactical Joe", and when empty are flat on the leg, which I have never seen another brand of pants do. I really like the look of these, and I'm very happy with this purchase.

I won’t reiterate what the other reviewers have detailed aside from stating that these are easily the most comfortable and well-designed pants of their type I own – fit, feel, pockets, etc.

I usually wear a 32 -34. It is true that the 34s are on the small size, but they fit me well. I think that if you are going to be wearing an IWB holster you should go up even an additional size from what you normally do for this purpose.

I wear a 32 inseam, and the inseam is pretty much spot-on, maybe a bit long – if I wear boots or substantially soled shoes they are fine, but if I wear Chuck Taylor-type sneaks they are a bit too long. Some brands, like the Tru-Spec 24-7 or Carhartt I need to order the 30 inseams because they are simply really long.

I find letting these hang dry makes them even more comfortable.

These are hands down the most comfortable pants I have ever worn for active use. They claim they are athletic cut and they will not hamper your movement abilities, and they certainly live up to that claim. I will purchase more for sure.
Low profile, doesnt look tactical, and yet they perform much better than 5.11 stuff.
