5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Belkin Cover for my New Kindle Fire November 17, 2011
By S. Lee
Color Name:Purple|Verified Purchase
I purchased this in advance of the release of the Kindle Fire because it appeared to be simple and relatively inexpensive. Well, it is both of those, plus the purple color is far more muted than in the picture presented and it makes it look rather impressive. It feels wonderful (like leather) and doesn't add to the bulk of the Kindle at all. A great purchase. I would highly recommend this to family and friends, or purchase it for my brother as an inexpensive Christmas gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for what I need to protect my Kindle Fire November 19, 2011
Color Name:Black
I did not buy this online but saw this sold in local Target store and bought it there. Also saw the M-Edge Hampton cover for the Kindle Fire in the store and those were the only two really available to compare in person. The Hampton cover looks like it can work as a stand, but I did not feel I needed to use my tablet to be stood up, and wanted a cover that had a magnetic closure. I like the 4 elastic straps at the corners as it's easy to put the tablet in and it holds it snug. It's thin enough not to be bulky to put in my purse but feels "leather-like" enough and feels sturdy enough in my hands. It's velour material inside which feels good - not sure if it will stain as mentioned in a different review for Belkin product for different Kindle. It also has a thin pocket on the inside to put any papers but I have not needed to use such. Although the 3 edges are exposed on the sides, it is convenient to charge the tablet with the cover in place. So far I'm pleased for its purpose.

Whether I think it's worth $29.99, that's hard to say b/c I don't think any of the covers should cost as much as they are listed as, but for what I get it's reasonable enough.

I've read in detail the various other choices I had between the Marware leather and shelllike covers as well as other sleeves and based on the reviews and how the covers work, I like having something with a magnetic closure - simple to open and close.

Ideally if there was a cover out there that can be used as a stand and had a magnetic closure or some type of closure, that would be the most ideal cover I would look for in the Kindle Fire.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice stylish cover November 23, 2011
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
I didn't really need a cover that would protect my Kindle Fire if I dropped it. Plus, the Kindle Fire is already a little weighty so I didn't want to add more to it. This is the perfect option. This acts like a binder for your Fire. It's stylish, holds the Fire securely without interfering with the screen and the cover easily folders back and out of the way when in use. The tab secures with a magnet. This will keep your Fire protected from scratching, things falling on the screen, or if you like to carry it with you it is perfect for protecting against whatever else may be in your bag from rubbing against it. If you were to drop it, I don't think this would offer much protection from the hit but would probably help prevent scuffs & scratches from small falls. It's also very light so no added weight. There's a small pocket on the inside cover which is great for carrying small items with it like business cards, notes, etc. For my needs, this fits perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, Attractive Cover November 23, 2011
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
I've been hunting for a nice looking cover for my Kindle Fire ever since release day, and after looking at various options and reviews such as the Marware covers from Amazon, products from M-Edge, the Rocketfish cover sold at Best Buy, and a few of the cheap $10 options on Amazon, I finally settled on this cover after checking it out in store at Target before buying it off of Amazon.

-It's thin so it doesn't add much bulk to your Fire, which makes it great to carry around it. Makes it look like a journal, and should protect the screen from any scratches, Gorilla Glass not withstanding.
-The (faux?) leather and stitching look great to me; it certainly doesn't look like this will be falling apart anytime soon, and it feels great holding it.
-The elastic bands hold the Fire in place just fine. It doesn't feel loose at all or feel like it will fall out by accident, and leaves the ports and buttons, as well as the speakers unobstructed.
-Magnetic clasp works fine, and keeps the front cover closed without any issues.

The only issue I can see people having is if they're looking for a thicker cover to protect the Fire from accidental drops. This isn't the case for that, and there are thicker cases with different material for that. I think this is a great case for carrying around or packing away to ensure there isn't any damage, and for those who don't need any sort of stand functionality. Given that i'll be holding the tablet upright the majority of the time, I didn't see a need to pay the $39 for the Belkin Stand version.

The price could certainly be $5 cheaper, but it's still a very attractive handy case, and it should work great for traveling with my upcoming flights for Thanksgiving and New Years.

2.0 out of 5 stars literally just an outer cover November 18, 2011
Color Name:Black|Verified Purchase
This cover is probably as basic as it gets. The first thought I had was "wow, this was $30"? Looking at it, it seems like it should cost half that. It does seem like it will do a good enough job protecting the outside from things like minor scratches, but the 3 outer sides of the kindle are pretty exposed- at least the straps do a pretty good job of keeping the kindle in place, but here is no kind of padding at all. It is help closed my a magnetic strap that seems to function adequately. I don't think this cover would do any good if you dropped the kindle, but I don't think it was designed for that. A big minus for me is that this case does NOT function as a stand.
So overall, extremely basic, low to average quality, but will probably do a good enough job if you never take your kindle outside the house...but at $30 it seems really overpriced. I have to say I like the "Splash Signature Folio" cover much better- it's the same price, provides better protection, and functions as a stand.
