While Paul Hardcastle continues to perform with a new album over 20 years later, I still remember December 1984, when his hit Rainforest, was played a lot on R&B stations. It balanced so very well with the R&B records and the rap hits that were starting to dominate mainstream radio. It has a smooth jazz groove with cool, dance beats and keyboards playing on it. I still hear it it many places today, stores and the like. December of '84 through '85, I heard it a lot, then "19" exploded with its funky grooves. Went very high on pop charts, then he later returned to his jazz mode. Hardcastle continues to surprise us with his adventurous jazz and this collection is a good start for anyone that hadn't heard his earlier music.

Among the old favorites on this double disk cd are some interesting re-recordings of other artists' songs; and although as a hits album it is padded with mediocre material and several anti-vietnam/anti-war tracks, it does still have a few interesting tracks to enjoy. At first I thought the first actual track (which is an anti-war/anti-vietnam track) was ok and then as the cd progresses it turns out there are 3 anti-vietnam tracks so I began to think that this cd is padded with average or below-average material. Some people are trying to forget that era of history...(but then again I realize that this cd was not recently released, it is dated). I like Paul Hardcastle's music for the electronic instrumental tracks; he includes on this cd some vocals that are ok but some I don't care for. I do think it is a good cd to add to anyone's collection even though most greatest hits cd's recycle previously recorded material.

This double cd set is well worth the money.
I enjoy listening to Paul Hardcastle and this double cd has most of his greatest hits.
It is no longer in production so I was lucky enough to find a used one in excellant condition.
I enjoy listening to it very much.
