5.0 out of 5 stars "A wonderful sampler from the "father" of British guitar !"
Before Marvin, Harrison, Clapton, Beck, Page, Fripp, Howe and the rest, British guitar heroes started with this man...Bert Weedon, OBE.

This collection runs from 1959-1967, the peak of Bert's recording career.

Aside from excellent covers of tunes such as "Guitar Boogie Shuffle", "Sweet Georgia Brown", "Malaguena", "Charlie Boy" and "Dark Eyes",...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Very Best of Bert Weedon
I guess I thought it would be a little better. I really never heard of this person and I was comparing him to others that I have.

Before Marvin, Harrison, Clapton, Beck, Page, Fripp, Howe and the rest, British guitar heroes started with this man...Bert Weedon, OBE.

This collection runs from 1959-1967, the peak of Bert's recording career.

Aside from excellent covers of tunes such as "Guitar Boogie Shuffle", "Sweet Georgia Brown", "Malaguena", "Charlie Boy" and "Dark Eyes", Weedon original hits such as "Ginchy", "Sorry Robbie" and my favorite Weedon track "High Steppin'" this collection shows the versatility of the man who taught so many how to "play-in-a-day".

Other worthy tracks include "Gin Mill Guitar", "Stranger Than Fiction" and "MacGregor's Leap", all played with a classic tone and the mastery of a man who played all things the electric guitar offered.

Regrettably, this is more than likely the only cd of his commercially available, but it's a dandy.

5 stars.

Bert Weedon spent many an hour on a guitar before making that CD. If I could play the radio half as good as he plays the guitar, I, too, could be famous.

Having grown up in the 50's and 60's listening to Bert on the radio, he is still one of the better class of guitar players and is in the class of Joe brown, Duanne Eddy and Stevie Ray Vaughan in my humble opinion.
