5.0 out of 5 stars Separated by a common language, November 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Very Best of British (Paperback)
I bought and read this book. It's very useful for finding out what the Brits mean. I never knew there was so much slang and differences before I moved to the UK. Yes, the Brits REALLY do say bloody a lot. What you don't know is there are several every day terms that they use and hundreds of other terms that come up from time to time, too that the average American wouldn't know about. If you are visiting or moving to the UK...pick up this book. It will serve you well.

If you are American and are visiting the UK, or want to understand your Brit colleagues, then you have to read this. All those mysterious words explained. Your Brit employees can no longer "diss" you without you knowing it. A superb investment for the management.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny and very useful, January 11, 2003
This review is from: The Very Best of British (Paperback)
I picked this book up at the airport on the way back to the US and giggled all the way home (much to the amusement of my fellow passengers). I found the companion website useful too - it is updated fairly regularly.

Since returning home I have kept the book near the TV as it is really useful when watching all those British shows that seem to have hit our screens recently.

Well worth a read.
