5.0 out of 5 stars Grusin gets even better with age, January 13, 2006

David R. Gloss (Denver, Colorado) - See all my reviews

This review is from: The Very Best of Dave Grusin (Audio CD)
This CD brings into focus the maturation of Dave Grusin's pianistic grace. No longer fascinated by the tricks of electronics, Grusin, in this CD made up of of his own movie compositions, shows us a warmpth and depth not widely heard these days. Highly recommended.

If you like keyboard based jazz, this is a CD for you. Dave writes and plays on many well known soundtracks. Hollywood loves him. Check it out and see why.

4.0 out of 5 stars Maybe Not His Best, But Awfully Close, January 14, 2008
This review is from: The Very Best of Dave Grusin (Audio CD)
Grusin is such a diverse artist, in some ways it's difficult to define what is his "best". Some people like him for his jazz pieces, others for his renditions of favorite songs, still others for his wide variety of songtracks he's written.

Having said that, though, this is a good solid Grusin album. My favorite by far is "Mojadi",which in my opinion, is worth the price of the album alone. It is just so unabashedly retro that is cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grusin's a master of the smooth-jazz mode, August 29, 2011

This album compiles some of Grusin's best. For smooth jazz aficionados, he's the man. Has Mozart's genius for melody, Bach's for harmony, and Beethoven's for orchestration. Heard him the recently at Yoshi's in Oakland, double billed with Lee Ritenauer and they rocked the joint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dave Grusin, October 6, 2007

This is more great music, a collection of Grusin's hits. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is, it's too short. Nice, relaxing instrumental music. My favorite one is the theme from Peter Gunn.
