This review is from: The Very Best of Dean Martin: The Capitol & Reprise Years (Audio CD)
Dean Martin produced funfilled songs that forces the toes to tap, I recommend purchasing this particular album for hours of Positive, up-beat classics such as "Your No Body Till Somebody Loves You" and "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" and there's the classic "Thats Amore" Just to name a few on this collection album. This has all the listening punch for less, I'd recommend This to someone who wants to spend their time dancing and singing and not making payments for it!

Dean Martin remains one of the best crooners we have ever seen and it could well be that he will be one of the best male singers of ALL time--I would not be surprised! Dean could take any song and transform it into a sublime ballad that had so much elegance and feeling to it; he gave blood to please his adoring fans and they loved him for it. His fans in our times still love him as well they should!"Gentle on My Mind" begins the CD with Dean Martin squarely in the spotlight--and that's quite all right by me! "Memories Are Made of This" is yet another gem; Dean sings this faultlessly and the backup chorus harmonizes well even though Dino never really needed backup. "That's Amore" features Dean in his natural element; he performs this beautifully and no one could have sung this any better. Other huge hits on this album include "The Door Is Still Open (To My Heart)" which gets the royal treatment from Dean; what a passionate song this is in Dean's capable hands! "Volare" was a song Dean Martin loved to sing; and listen for the magnificent "In the Chapel in the Moonlight" that Dean performs without letting go of a single superfluous note! I'm impressed. "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You" never sounded better than it does here; Dean sings this from the bottom of his heart and just one listen proves it! Dean swings brightly on "Somewhere There's a Someone;" I could listen to this without ever tiring of hearing it. "Return to Me" is most romantic; and I like Dean's treatment of "Rio Bravo." "Sway" has a wonderful beat for dancing all alone late at night with your sweetheart; and "Powder Your Face with Sunshine (Smile Smile Smile)" has a jazzy arrangement that works wonders for this tune. I love it! "I Will" is beautiful when Dino sings it; and there's a wonderful rendition of "Houston" that shows just how well Dean really could sing country. What a versatile performer! The CD ends with one of the sweetest tunes of all, "Everybody Loves Somebody." It's truly one of Dean Martin's greatest hits ever. Dean Martin fans would do well to add this compilation to their collections; sadly it is out of print as I write this but maybe that will change with time. This is also a fine starter CD for anyone just discovering the magical artistry of the great Dean Martin. |
