5.0 out of 5 stars Fitting Title
If you like Frankie Lymon and the teenagers, this is all you need. Their very first album is also included in its entirety. Along with the better known songs, you may truly enjoy such rarities as "paper Castles, '"Share," and "Teenage Love" (the latter is not to be confused with the Slick Rick tune of 30 years later). So if you want the full deal...

Along with the better known songs, you may truly enjoy such rarities as "paper Castles, '"Share," and "Teenage Love" (the latter is not to be confused with the Slick Rick tune of 30 years later). So if you want the full deal on Frakie Lymon and co-buy this after you see the movie. BTW-Interesting to compare this with the collection by his brother Lewis Lymon and their group the Teenchords.

5.0 out of 5 stars " One Of The Best In The Idiom Of Doo Wop", November 7, 2001

For quite sometime, I had been looking for the ultimate Teenager collection and this is definately it. I won't go into the tragic life after the Teenagers for Frankie Lymon. Everybody knows the story by now. I will say that the Teenagers are one of three groups who are the Kings of doo wop in my opinion. #1, The Moonglows. #2, The Heartbeats. And finally at #3, The Teenagers. Listen to "Promise To Remember" or "I Want You To Be My Girl". This is doo wop at it's best. They don't call me Mr. Doo Wop for nothing. I also think Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers is one of the most underrated groups of all time. They accomplished a lot in a short time. I will have many years of enjoyment with this treasure of a c.d.!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Giant little magicmaker, February 18, 2007
This review is from: Very Best of (Audio CD)
RHINO records THE VERY BEST OF FRANKIE LYMAN & THE TEENAGERS is a nicely designed album that presents this seminal 50s doo-wop group at their finest. An outstanding liner note book includes great vintage photos, a comprehensive bio, and song info that places them all into specific moments of the group's brief historic run at the top of the music world mountain.

Six tracks on this set made BILLBOARD's R&B charts, while four of these same titles placed lower on the POP listings. The final cut presented, Lyman's solo cover of "Little Bitty Pretty One," topped out at #58 on the POP 100. Gone was Frankie's high-tenor voice and the magic he created as a "Teenager."

TOTAL RUNNING TIME -- 40:11

5.0 out of 5 stars The Very Best of Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, October 26, 2007
This review is from: Very Best of (Audio CD)
If you are interested in buying this album then you must know the music. One of the prime, if not the prime movers of Group Harmony or Doo Wop as it is called created the sound for a whole generation. If you are part of that generation you want this or if you want to know what this generation was like you want this album.

I was very surprised at how clearly the CD sound. Every single song is better than I could ever imagine. I love this CD. Frankie Lymon has the best voice. It's really sad how his life turned out.

Well, what can I say. The performance in this album can only be discribed as a super performance. Every song from this album is a hit. Well, what can I say about Frankie Lymon, he is the greatest. Words cannot discribe the magnitude of this man's tremendous talent.I think that Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers should be awarded a Grammy for their signiture song WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE. Frankie Lymon is definately the greatest singer that I have ever heard. This album represent his finest performances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frankie Lymon was an awesome singer and perrformer., October 26, 1998

With only being 26 years old, i am infatuated with old music. I always liked the song Why Do Fools Fall In Love by Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers but when I saw the movie I just got real excited about him, his life, and his music. I wish I could have rown up inhis era to really know him as a entertainer. Long live Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers.

5.0 out of 5 stars the very best thoughts on frankie lymon!!!, March 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Very Best of (Audio CD)
This is regina I'm writing to let you know that frankie lymon is all of that not just his songs but him frankie was and still would be a great singer if he was never taking drugs that was his fought but I still feel like it was that person who gave him the drugs fought who ever it maybe? I love all his songs,my favorites were baby, baby, goodygoody, abc'soflove, why do fools fall in love, and little bitty one. I like the movie based on him it was excellent!!! everyone seemed to have a problem with the movie's soundtrack I think it was good but they should have added some of frankie's original songs on the soundtrack and then I would know for a fact that the cd would make a big profit at the stores!!! frankie also had 3 wives zola taylor, elizabeth james, emira eagle, all three were still married to frankie after he had died from a overdose in his grandma house in 1968 at age 26 frankie's life was never the same after he left the teenagers which was ashame. we'll that's all I have to say about frankie but as you can see you could have a wonderful life but it can easily be destroyed by messing with drugs. you see what happen to frankie and the same thing can happen to you so remember stay off the drugs and you will go far!!!
