Editorial Reviews

One of the most outstandingly successful groups in pop history, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were always known for their extraordinary live performances. This live concert was filmed in Atlantic City during their 1992 US tour. Including many of their most popular and widely acclaimed hits, the program is a fitting tribute to a remarkable group. Inducted into both the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Frankie Valli has scored 39 Top 40 hits in the course of his illustrious career.

In 2005, the Broadway musical Jersey Boys opened on the 'Great White Way'. Besides performances of many of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons hit recordings, the musical features a biographical narrative, told as four separate points of view by each of the members of The Four Seasons (Tommy DeVito, Frankie Valli, Nick Massi, and Bob Gaudio). The musical dramatizes several real-life incidents from Valli's life, including his estrangement from his daughter Francine, who died in 1980.

The widely acclaimed show has won six Tony awards, with touring companies around the world, as well as a version at Paris Las Vegas. Based on the roadway smash hit and directed by Clint Eastwood, the movie Jersey Boys was released in 2014 to rave reviews, starring Christopher Walken and John Lloyd Young as Valli.

5.0 out of 5 stars 30th Anniversary concert is unmatchable July 20, 2002
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
What do you say about the most "famed" band for doing concerts? This is it! Yes, they do many of their songs spanning the 30 years of Rock and Roll, and yes they can do more songs, but just listen and enjoy what they have put together for the 30th anniversary concert. I saw this concert when it was here in Chicago and the teenagers who joined my sons, stopped in their tracks to hear the perfect harmony and soft tones when the 4 seasons performed the "Do Wop" songs, "Remember When", "Sunday Kind of Love" and "Blue Moon". This caused them to stand around and literally got knocked for a loop when they heard the 4 Seasons sing "Silence is Golden". The soft and smooth rendition relaxed these teens, who couldn't believe these guys were singing "LIVE". They only saw groups who worried more about dancing and doing special effects while lip singing rather then entertain their audience with refined talent. All of this was caught for your enjoyment on this DVD.
The only down side I saw about this conert they recorded was that the crowd at this concert took half the concert to loosen up before they got into it. Their loss! If you want a better crowd, get a copy of the "20th Anniversary concert" This crowd was loose and it showed and played well on the recording. However, the concert can only be found on VHS. This is a plead for the 4 Seasons to put this, "20th Anniversary", on DVD for better enjoyment. This tape has also been sold as "Frankie Valli - Hits from the 60's" I hope this helps you decide to buy this part of Rock and Roll history. I now sit and wait for the 40th anniversary concert which comes here in August. I hope they will again entertain us and put it on DVD for all to see.

5.0 out of 5 stars After all the years Franki Valli Still Rocks!!! April 6, 2007
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
If any one knows any thing about music and the previous pin head reviwer does NOT... Frankie while being much YOUNGER when he recorded his classics with the Four Seasons it still incredible to see live... While true the original FOUR SEASONs have broken up decades ago..Franki has but together a top notch band and the trip down memory lane is incredible. He lays down hit after hit after hit... Not many singers have the longevity that Mr Valli has. I was at this show in Atlantic City and it was incredible and for the so called doubters and people that know absolutely about music My first concert this Franki and the 4 Seasons was at the Latin Casino in NJ and let me tell you something while he has grown older and cant quite hit those incredible high notes he and his band still ROCK and I challange any on at his age do to what he does in concert....If you are a fan of the Four Seasons and Franki Valli DO NOT MISS this. You should have this in your collection....Let the others take teir Ball and GO HOME!! Franki ROCKS!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Seasons At Their Best June 10, 2005
Bill Vasquez' review of this concert couldn't be more right on.

I purchased the VHS nearly 4 years ago and recently added the

DVD to my collection. This is a concert you can watch time and again and never tire. Valli and Co. are outstanding! They look good, they sound good and exude excitement and energy. The Doo Wop acappella segment is a real treat and the song "Fallen Angel"

is so incredibly sensitive and poignant it will bring a tear to your eye. Why it was never a hit in this country is a mystery to me. GOOD STUFF!

4.0 out of 5 stars Frankie Valli 2/29/2008 March 3, 2008
By sjv
We just saw Frankie Valli and the "new" 4 Seasons at Beau Rivage, Biloxi, MS. I don't know what some reviewers expect of a 73 year old performer but we thought the show was very good. We're going to see The Moody Blues in three weeks and guess what.....they're all in their 60's as well! To the nay sayers, get over it...time marches on and you too will get older....if you live long enough! Just look at the "Stones".

3.0 out of 5 stars What's with that audience??? January 9, 2007
I bought this video on a lark... I was looking for video to exercise by while on my treadmill. The production was good and Mr. Valli was giving it his all, but "oh, that audience!" They seemed to be in a comatose state... showed no enthusiasm for the music. Where did they get those people??? At a funeral home??? Anyway, the songs brought back all my teenaged memories and the video was a good addition to my "oldies" collection. I would recommend it to anyone who sang along with those songs on their transistor radios! It will bring back tons of memories of those days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably Great February 8, 2010
I bought this DVD about a year ago and have watched it OVER AND OVER AND OVER. The quality of the music is excellent and the show that the Seasons put on was great. They did ALL of the Seasons' greatest hits and also did a DOO WOP segment that was phenomenal. Granted, it is NOT the original Seasons, but the originals left the group years ago. Time takes its toll. I disagree with the statement that the young keyboardist, Tim Stone, seemed out of place with the group. He's one of the finest musicians I have ever seen and his age has nothing to do with his playing ability. As a musician for the past 50 years and having been part of the warm-up act for the Seasons on three occasions, I think this DVD captured them at their finest. I HIGHLY recommend it. Buy it, turn on your Surround Sound and ENJOY a great show.
