Sure, there may be more songs on this disc than most. But surely, Isaac Hayes' artistic vision would be better served by a boxed set or by the original albums, where the full-length performances can be heard, rather than these edited-for-broadcast versions sliced down for radio stations to sell more shampoo and chewing gum. It is an insult to the memory of such an important musical figure. The rating I have given this collection is for the business end of things, not for the fine music found within. THAT is worth five stars. Concord Music has proved they are no better guardians of Mr. Hayes' legacy than Fantasy Records were when they owned the masters. And that they are just as, if not more, greedy.

This is by far the best single CD compilation of Isaac Hayes' Stax recordings I've seen. Virtually all of the big hits which made him a superstar are included here and (as a bonus) some more obscure tracks. Isaac's Stax recordings all succeeded at reaching R&B, Jazz and MOR-Pop audiences alike and they remain enjoyable and relevant to this day.

My husband sings something from this cd everyday! My teens are now familiar with this legendary artist. Music history and hip hop truly intermingle in our home and Isaac's sounds are a perfect foundation for those lessons.

Isaac Hayes is One of the Baddest Musical Creative forces ever. either as a Songwriter or covering other artists work he always leaves a lasting impression on a song when he does it. "Shaft" is a Household work and known period,but there was so much more to Isaac Hayes and you appreciate his arrangements and Productions along with his instrumentation and directions musically which combined so much. this is a Great overview and a must have for any Isacc Hayes fan.

A LOT of songs for the buck! Great CD for a romantic evening (it lasts a long time).

I ordered The Shaft cd not the best of Isaac Hayes, I already had that one.

THE ALBUM WAS BREATHE OF FRESH AIR..ITS CONTENTS WERE PRODUCED BRFORE MUSIC DIED' WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART THIS ALBUM IS, IF YOU HAVE NEVER LISTENED TO MR. HAYES YOU HAVE TO TRY IT.

Gone but not forgotten. This is a great tribute to an icon and is in mint condition. Soothing for the soul!!!!

We had these albums before, but I believe they were lost in a move. Just love them.

Excellent compilation of his classic originals and interpretations of other's hits. His take on "The Look of Love" is so sultry. Hayes' movie music featured in this collection is down right gorgeous.
