A slice of Hot Cajun Gumbo from Southern Ireland, January 29, 2005
This review is from: Very Best of (Jewl) (Audio CD)
Two Time Polka is a viguorous Cajun/Zydeco/Folk/Rock band from Cork City in Southern Ireland. They play Cajun music with a ferocity and energy completely unsurpassed and their love for the music is completely genuine and obvious on hearing them live or on CD. This is what separates them from the moras of non US outfits playing Cajun music. Ray Barron's mandolin and Geraldine Barron's accordion are at the forefront on'Bayou Pompon' while the graceful take on Bill Monroe's 'Moonlight Waltz' shows Two Time Polka's more senitive side. Tomas Dunne's voice sounds straight out Louisianna as he emotes 'Another Lonely Night' and Senan Quinlan's wonderful 'Dustbowl Blues with the appropriate resignation and invests the evergreen 'Diggy Liggy Lo' with fresh enthusiasm and joie de vivre. Two Time Polka works as a team throughout and their tight efficient playing drives 'Jeruslem Ridge', 'Lacassine Special'and a firey version of Chuck Berry's 'Promised Land'along like an express train. Two Time Polka are the essential good time band and you wont get a better Cajun gumbo this side of Louisianna. 'The Vety Best of Two Time Polka' is the cream of the Best Cajun/Roots band NEVER to come out of America- grab it, it's hot!

This is NOT polka music!, July 28, 2008
This review is from: Very Best of (Jewl) (Audio CD)
I stumbled across this band on You Tube, completely by accident. Their from Ireland, but they don't play Irish music. They don't play polka, they play Cajun, and it really is awesome. My favorite cuts are "Hound Dog" and "The Promised Land" but I don't think there's a weak one here. I haven't been this enthusiastic about an album in years. Buy it, you won't regret it.
