I consider John Denver the best singer/song writer/lyricist of my lifetime, and he had stiff competition, for sure. This particular set, which I have on cassette tapes (um, these came out after vinyls, around the time of 8-tracks, and before CDs--for those a bit younger), contains the best versions of his best songs. I've heard other productions, either from other recording sessions, or such as he rerecorded years later. There is a reason the versions on this set are the best, and are the ones released originally--they are the best.

I mean this to the point that I don't really enjoy other[re]recordings of his works that much. They are frustrating to listen to, just like someone else did a cover of John's songs, except in this case, he covered his own, and should have left them alone. Covers just don't work, even when done by the original artist.

Get this if you can find it. Or by the original albums, from which these were taken.

Received two disc set four days before anticipated date and the disc set is as good as brand new. Very happy with the purchase.

This is the 2nd disc in a 2 disc set that is the best collection of John Denvers' music I have ever found. Unfortunately, the supplier sent me the wrong disc in the right case (disc 1, which I already have, in the disc 2 case) and when I tried to return it nobody can locate the supplier. The post office returned the package to me and when I tried a second time to return it, the package is now apparently lost in the black hole that is our postal system. The supplier apparently has no legitamate contact means (but they were able to get my money, woo-hoo!), not sure. Anyway, great John Denver collection, a 2 disc set, if you can get it.

By the way, if your into low grade frustration, I lost disc 1 when I forgot to empty out the CD changer in my car and the least of the trustworthy service techs at the dealer found the opportunity a little too much to resist. The tech got a really good deal on a random 6 CD collection and I was just having another bad day. I countered by trading the minivan for a Mini Cooper, woo-hoo!!
