The Stylistics are truly an American classic vocal group, in the best of the best doo-wop and Motown traditions. I grew up slow dragging to most of the tunes on this CD. Like the great Motown recording, behind every great artist was the band; in Detroit it was the Funk Brothers, in Philly it was MFSB. Not to slight the awesome writers, arrangers and producers; I called out the musicians for a reason. Please note there appears to be at least one imposter track on this CD. Although the great Russell Tompkins, Jr. is definitely singing (all of the parts), the music is not the original track. If my memory serves me "Hurry Up This Way Again" was not recorded with digital instruments; I don't think they were that prevalent in '82. As this is one of my favorite Stylistic tracks I am disappointed; but there are so many other wonderful tracks (original recordings) on this CD, I leave to you to make the determination.

This two cd set is fantastic in choice of tracks and sound quality. It is all you'll ever want from one of the best harmony R & B groups of all times. Song for song you cannot beat this cd.

While the Music of the Stylistics is somewhat dated and does not translate to modern covers well (every time someone tries on American Idol it spells doom), the falsettos seem kind of cheesy and you wonder why you ever thought it was cool, but when you hear one of their songs, before you know it you are singing along in a horrible falsetto of your own with a big goofy smile on your face and some gushy memory of your sweetheart of days gone by.

So here's the deal, don't wait for these songs to come up on your "Old School" radio station, get it so you can reminisce with your sweetie at your own convenience!

I just Luv this group. But, I did not know till I read the liner notes that The Stylistics was Not a "group", but one man and three back up singers. Russell Tompkins has one one the best falsetto voices of this era. All these songs are just Fantastic,even some of the ones I had never heard. You Make Me Feel Brand New is one of my top favs. If I may point out to the real fans of this group,there is one glaring omition. The song "Children of the Night". It is a wonderful haunting song that for whatever reason is not included. If memory serves this song did receive some airplay and some....noteriety. Hmmm.... A great collection of songs averall,abeit the price of this collection is a bit overpriced. Thanks.

If you are into "OLD" school then this group is at the top.

This CD brings back so many memories. All the Stylistics best hits are on this CD. Anyone who loved listening to the Stylistics has to own this collection of greatest hits, they were one of a few singing groups who had class. Great artists like the Stylistics only come once in a blue moon. Enjoy.

Even though this is the more expensive, get it because it has the more complete set of songs. I just purchased two more as gifts. If I were told I could only keep ten CDs, this would be among them. the sound is so smooth and relaxing, I can't believe I lived thirty years without it. The Stylistics were quite simply the best.

This is a great CD with a vast collection of oldies and goodies. Wonderful addition to my old school collection.

This CD is marvelous and the sound quality is stunning! For those who wish to recollect the golden years of their lives, that's an excellent opportunity! For me Amazon is A#1 in the Whole World! Thanks a lot!

The music arrived just fine but the price on the package said $9.99 I was charged $19.00 I agreed to pay that even though I thought it was a bit much, they could have taken the actual price tag off of the package so I didn't look so much like a unsuspecting nut.
