The title, "The Very Best of Paul Davis / I Go Crazy," is a total misnomer for this album, especially with its release date of 2003. Anyone hoping for all of Davis's hits will be sorely disappointed, as it is missing songs such as "Cool Night," "'65 Love Affair," "Love or Let Me Be Lonely," and others. Basically, the producers put 7 of the 9 songs from Paul's 1980 self-titled album together (minus the two hits, "Do Right" and "Cry Just a Little", which are easily found on other "Best of" albums), then rounded it out by adding the three hits from his 1977 album, "I Go Crazy," "Sweet Life," and "Darlin'," - it certainly fills a niche for people trying to find the songs from the 1980 album without paying for a very expensive import copy of that album, but is a far stretch from a "Best of" album.

Since I already had the other two songs on CD, I just burned myself a homemade listening copy of the 1980 album, using 7 songs from this CD and 2 from the other one I had. Voila - my long-sought after copy of the 1980 "Paul Davis" album. And Paul certainly didn't disappoint with the album - a voice as sweet as honey, sentimental lyrics, and a great delivery!

I bought it as a gift. My wife loves the song "I Go Crazy." She loves the album. If you're a speed metal freak, don't buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paul Davis CD February 14, 2014

Paul was a very talented musician, singer, song writer, and a very good friend! I had a lot of his music on vinyl albums, but lost them in storage. Now I am trying to replace them all and they are little difficult to find. Very reasonable, in great condition (new), and arrived exactly when they said it would during inclement weather! Thanks guys for caring! I love it!

It more than met my expectations. Some of the songs were new to me and became favorites. He appeals to all ages. Superb.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much left out June 3, 2013
Growing up only 20+ miles from the late Paul Davis I may see see this collection different than people from other parts of the Country.First of all, no Davis collection can be complete that leaves off Magnolia Blues.Second,I do like the fact that it stays away from many of his 'hits' but '65 Love Affair should have been included. The songs included are great but besides the two previously mentioned,a few other regional favorites should have been included to expose more of the many sides of this fine artist to people who may not be fully aware of the depth of his catalog.I should also include one of his 'gospel' numbers.Again, what is here is good stuff but the title is very misleading: there is simply too much missing.
