Rock'n'roll pioneer Roy Orbison is best known for songs such as "Oh, Pretty Woman", "Only The Lonely", "Running Scared" and "Crying".

He signed with Sun Records, home of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis at the age of 20. This selection of songs is a good representation Roy's core material. If you are looking for a cd with his hits this one is for you. I even like how the playlist is organized. There are not many artists like Roy Orbison. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Orbison, June 5, 2010

"What's you're name?"
"My name is Oubey"
"Yeah?, Are you sure it isn't more like Oobie Doobie?"
That last line was deliverd by Robert Mitchum in the film: "Mr. Moses"...
Orbison had impact.
Although that song never made it onto our AM stations in Northern Ohio where I lived, Crying and Oh Pretty Woman did make the Charts where I lived and I've been a fan ever since.
It was even better when my favorite band, The Beatles said they were fans and actually knew him.
Years later when the band with the All-Star line-up known as The Traveling Wilbury's included Orbison and George Harrison you knew it wasn't just media talk.

As for the disc "The Very Best..." it is a great disc from many standpoints although it won't include all your favorites, it does give some beautiful versions of Orbison's work as a Singer and Songwriter, as well as a style track of how records were produced in the early Rock n Roll days thru to the 80's.

The sound quality on this disc is superb... a work done well and worthy of its title.
