Great comp, great sound, great price. All the charting singles are here along with a generous helping of album tracks. However, there is one glaring omission...WHERE THE HECK IS THE TITLE TRACK FROM "DENIM AND LEATHER"? Although not one of their hits, it is surely one of their most beloved anthems. I simply can't believe that it didn't make it on this collection. Other than that, this set is rock solid.

This is some of the greatest Metal that Saxon had to offer. It not only has multiple CD's, but over 40 songs to boot. With the release of a new Saxon album in 2007, this would be a great compliment to anyone wanting great Metal from an amazing Metal band. As a radio DJ with my own Metal show, I bought this to let my listeners enjoy what i have been enjoying from Saxon for years. All the best in one package, you can't go wrong. And it won't break the bank either to buy this set. This would save you alot of cash from having to buy all the past albums if you are on a budget, but even if you aren't I suggest buying all of them along with this set just for fun....

This is the ultimate best of collection on the legendary British Heavy Metal band, Saxon. Covering their golden era-the 80's, the band's best tracks are collected here from their first 8 albums. Brilliant remastered sound, great liner notes by Mick Wall, and 52 tracks all on 3 cds. Beware, as there seems to be 2 versions of this out there, one without the essential anthem, "Denim & Leather" and including a live version of "Midnight Rider" instead. I got the one w/ "Denim". Also the price is amazing-I bought mine new at $10.99-not bad for a 3 disc set. Glaring omissions: "This Town Rocks", and the rockin' version of Sweet's "Set Me Free", and I would have left out the horrible, embarassing take on Christopher Cross' "Ride Like The Wind". That aside, this Saxon collection is essential for any true fan of classic heavy metal. Now buy this, turn it up to 11 and ROCK!

This is a very good 3 cd box set of Saxon's first ten years worth of singles (every single up to 1988). All the tracks are remastered and sound great . It is available at a very reasonable price , in most cases under $30.00 . It is full of all Saxon's classic singles and b sides . Still with all of their singles contained here it is still missing some great Saxon songs , but for the price you still get your monie's worth. I do hope they release another one covering the years after 1988 .

I write this review, because I feel guilty. My first experience with Saxon was when the opened for Iron maiden, and absolutely blew them off the stage. This was on the Power and the glory tour, and i thoroughly enjoyed all the material up to that point . . . then, they released Crusader, and it seemeed like the band had totally wussed out. Covering Christopher Cross? Please . . .

So, when I bought the greatest hits Cd, I was expecting two discs of greatness, and one that would rarely grace my CD player. Boy, was I wrong. The first two (early) CDs are predictably great, but the third contains a selection of songs that, for the most part, rock really hard and stack up to Saxon's best early material.

This is an exceptional set of tunes, and very reasonably priced. My only complaints: the omission of their excellent coverr of Sweet's "Set Me Free" and my guilty pleasure of "This Town Rocks" from The Power and the Glory.

This is a great deal for someone getting introduced to saxon. It has everything except for the song Denim and Leather. But for the price it's a steal! Three cds full of kick ass heavy metal. Saxon are true without a doubt one of the early pioneers of metal!!!! Pick this collection up asap!!!!!

for all you saxon fans out there this is the cd for you. i bought it and it has'nt disapointed me not once!!!!!

This is a great song collection of Saxon; to me, it would have been perfect if it had included "Denim and leather", "To hell and back again" and "The eagle has landed" instead of 5 live repeated songs.

I admit it, I never heard of Saxon before I played Grand Theft Auto on my Xbox 360. When I heard the song "Wheels of Steel" blare out on my 42" Plasma Screen T.V. I pulled over and stopped my motorcycle and just listened to the song, didn't care about completing the mission. My exact words were "Who in the **** sings this?" So I looked it up and Saxon was my answer. I listened to some sample tracks on the internet, and I figured it was best to get their 3 Disc Greatest Hits collection. Apparently I had missed something huge in Rock 'n Roll history, cause these guys seriously rocked. The 3 Discs for $30 is well worth it considering these guys put out soooo many albums its hard to get all of their good songs in 1 compilation, and as far as I know this 1 has covered it all. There is 1 gaffe on CD 2 which some people have noted. The Title Tracks between 7-13 are wrong and the fact is Denim and Leather isn't on the CD. Here's what's actually on CD2 7-13:

7: Midnight Rider
8: Motorcycle Man [Live]
9: 747 (Strangers in The Night) [Live]
10: Strong Arm of The Law [Live]
11: 20,000 FT [Live]
12: Wheels of Steel [Live]

So instead of getting Denim and Leather, you get the live version of Midnight Rider. I have no clue why or how it happened, but the live version of Midnight Rider isn't bad so it's not really worth complaining. The buy was more then worth it overall and it is a must have for any Classic Hard Rock collector.

Let me start by saying that "The Very Best of Saxon" is very, very cool. There are 3 CD's of great songs that span many different albums. As for the previous review by S.Smith regarding this collection, he is wrong. "Denim and Leather" is indeed a track that is included in this collection. It is on disc #2, track #7. I know this because I purchased this collection, and have listened to it several times. Amazon has incorrectly listed the songs on disc #2. My friends, there are no "missing" or "over-looked" songs with this collection. It really has all the good stuff from Saxon. That is why there are 3 CDs in this set. Saxon clearly wanted to ensure that all the best material would be included. Let me say that the sound quality is excellent, and there is a very good booklet included which offers a general history of the band. Saxon is a great British Hard Rock and Metal Band. I hope that Saxon will continue to tour and release new material for years to come. Finally, this collection was made in Holland. The Dutch are definately lovers of all things Rock 'N Roll. This is a five star collection. Get Yours!
