In the one week that I've owned this CD, I've played it both at several water aerobics classes and at a party at my home (yesterday). In both cases people's reaction was astonishment at how authentic the imitations are:

More than one person said, "I can't tell the difference [between this song and the original]!." Then the next song would come on, and they'd be astonished that it was ALSO performed by Stars- on-45. The "I-can't-tell-the-difference" group includes a former Classic Rock DJ.

A person who works on Talk Radio told me thought that I was adding different instrumentation to original voice tracks (the original vocals).

Nevertheless, If I actively listen for differences, and in a quiet environment (which is neither water aerobics nor a party), I am able to detect subtle difference between this CD's songs and the originals.

(2) This is an excellent CD for water aerobics both due to the distinct, 120 BPM (beats per minute) beat and the mix of songs from the '40s through the 80s.

(3) More people have asked me how to buy this CD (not just requested that I play it) than any other CD that ever played for water aerobics classes, and I've been doing so for over three years, during which time I've played (songs from) over three hundred CDs.

I also own Jive Bunny's greatest hits and "DiscoBeatles." If this CD is an A+, then Jive Bunny's is about a B- , and "DiscoBeatles." is an F.

I plan to give copies of this CD as Christmas presents.

I was in college in the early 80's when this was big, and it is just as fun to hear now.

I had no problems playing the CD and importing it into my itunes. I never tried playing it directly on the PC. This is pricey, but well worth it!!

If you are in from the U.S. I'm basing my review from that of a U.S.Citizen. First off, this CD does NOT play on a computer. So in other words, you can not burn this and use on an I-POD. If you are looking for the Stars on Long Play Vol I Beatles Medley, that broke it into 2 parts on 2 seperate tracks. If you are looking for the Original Stars on 45 Medley released in the U.S. in 1980, it is not here. A close version is, but it is not exact. Other than that the Stevie Wonder, Supremes, ABBA, and Rolling Stone Medleys are all here. There are some add ons. I give this a 3 Star Rating because there are better Stars on 45 CD's out there. I recommend the 2 CD set, "Stars on 45 Greatest Hits." This has more American versions of what ew would hear on the Stars on Long Play Albums Vol I, II & III. This is an Import as well. Hard to find for sell sometimes but well worth buying. it too is an import but you can at least burn it on to your computer.

Bought this for my husband's birthday - he kept talking about how much he loved Stars on 45. We were both teenagers when these songs played on the radio. It's all I remembered and more!! Love the Beatles potpourri, and the Star Wars potpourri, but there's so much more! From Marylin Monroe, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones, Neil Diamond, Jackson 5... and it starts with "Sugar, oh honey honey, you are my candy girl..." Love it, love it!

This is an awesome collection of FUN music, and I love this CD....BUT.....it will not play on my PC, so I was not able to download it to my iPod. Ended up buying it again, through iTunes. No big deal, but the description should make it a little more clear that this will not play on your PC. I did not notice that little box on the front cover of the picture of the album....my fault I guess. Anyway, if you want the CD go for it. But if you want to put this music on your iPod, go to the iTunes store and download it for $9.99.

I just wanted to add that I recently bought this CD and have had no problems playing it on my PC, despite what the note on the front cover says. My PC is only about a year and a half old and has Windows 7, so anyone thinking of buying it might be able to have a little more confidence about it. As for the CD itself, it's great to have Stars on 45 material again to listen to. Their Beatles Medley that went to #1 in 1981 ignited a medley craze that lasted for about a year on the charts. Does anyone remember The Beach Boys and Elvis medleys? And Hooked On Classics? There was also a Beatles Movie Medley, even though it wasn't by Stars On 45. I guess since it was kind of a passing phase, the record companies today have pretty much forgotten about Stars on 45 and the other medleys and haven't exactly been in a rush to re-release them. This import collection helps to fill that void. It would have been nice to have the original 45 versions as bonus tracks, but hopefully that will happen sometime in the future. Overall, a great CD and worth its price.

By the way, the 45 version of the original Stars on 45 Beatles Medley is on a CD called "Then: Totally 80's Again".

IF YOUR INTO DISCO MIXED WITH OLDIES YOU WILL ENJOY THIS CD. I HAD THIS VERY SAME MUSIC ON A 45 RPM RECORD FROM BACK AT LEAST 20 YEARS.

They should have stayed around longer and put out a few more albums like these.

So out of the 6 cd players in my home, 4 are various ages and 1 being a MAC and 1 also being a PC, this complitaion only plays on 1 of them. So I can say that the music is great! But i can't really access it. Just look on that larger image of the cover and its clearly written: does not play on PC or MAC. I didn't see that. I also have purchased other import cds in the past and have had no problems. So i can't get it on my ipod nor other cd players and i'm a little annoyed, because i was so excited to find this stuff on cd. I have the stars on II LP.

This is a collection of snippets of hit songs redone with a disco beat. These are not the original artists, but fair imitators. But Just when I get into one song, it changes into another one. It reminded me of watching Time Life "Best of" CD commercials. I"ll admit to watching the commericals for a few minutes, but then I switch the channel. That's pretty much how I felt after listening to this for a few minutes...time to listen to something else.
