Let me echo the comments of the previous reviewer who called for a VOLUME 11 by the same artist. Vaughn Monroe had more hits than are collected here and those thar are, are excellent. A second volume might feature some of the many songs Vaughn sang on his "Camel Caravan" radio show which were not necessarily recorded by him. More Monroe!

As a major fan of Vaughn Monroe, I was very pleased with "The Very Best of Vaughn Monroe". I found the remastering excellent and the selection of songs to be a good representation Vaughn's recordings. One problem I did find with this collection is that the represented version of "Racing with the Moon" is not the original 1941 version rather a 1945 re-recording with strings. The 1941 version seems to never be re-issued and I would like to have had it represented with Vaughn's early songs on this CD. I have all of these recordings on either 45's or 78's and for the first time I have discovered how wonderful the Vaughn Monroe Orchestra really was without all of the surface noise included on the original 78's.Vaughn Monroe was a huge star from the Big Band Era well into the early Rock years,who could forget Vaughn's Twist version of Bye, Bye, Blackbird? It is really sad that Vaughn has so little to represent him on CD. Hopefully we will see more recordings appear with the same quality as this CD.

It's way past time for Vaughn Monroe's music to be available on CD. This is an excellent CD with many of his songs represented here and they (and he) sound so GOOD! I agree with some of the other reviewers about pressing a Volume 2. At least there are 9 CDs available with his music on it now, including one in the new V-Disc series which surprised me. I've always enjoyed listening to Vaughn sing and it's nice to know that he's finally getting some recognition on his own instead of just through the compilations put out by RCA and Rhino. After all, he was one of RCA's biggest recording artists in the 1940's.

my father had a album with music of the 40's and one song on that record was Ballerina by Vaughn Monroe. since that time i was looking for this artist, only you won't find that much Monroe in the Netherlands. finally, i found it here and today i am a very happy man. great orchestra, great and somewhat strange voice, and great songs. If you love music from this time, you'le love Vaunghn Monroe. love,

My fellow reviewers have one of two things happening: (1) they received different discs than I, or (2) they have been smoking some very serious stuff. The average review is five stars? I can give it only one which is a major disappointment! Why? Although the title of the CD is accurate, the quality of the disk is perfectly terrible. A number of tracks reproduce horribly and No. 2 (There I Go) is particularly bad. One wonders why the folks that make thse recordings can't take the time to make certain that the customer gets a decent recording for his or her money. If original master recordings need to be cleaned up in order to give the listener a fair shake then this needs to be done. This is a perfectly wonderful assortment of Vaughn Monroe's recordings. It is a perfectly terrible recording of them.

Bravo to Taragon records ! What a shame it has taken so long for any label to release a compliation of one of the best vocal artists of the 40's and early 50's ! The remastering is top drawer, and choice of tracks is quite good. A Volume II should be issued covering the MANY hits that were not included in this CD.

This CD contains his Greatest Hits and a nice biography. You get to experience the versatility Vaughn commanded with such a full and rich voice. There is some swing, some pop, movie themes and some easy listening. My favorites are Ghost Riders In The Sky and Let It Snow!

I am glad that I bought it!

Vaughn Monroe was one of the all time great singers, the selection of songs on this CD is excellent. BUT THE SOUND IS GOSH-AWFUL. At least on 2 of the songs the sound is really bad, way over-modulated, static-y over loud type noise you get when the gain is turned up too much when recording. I wish they'd re-release all these great songs with decent sound and I'd buy it again.

The quality of this CD is excellent. I chose it because of the selections as there will never be another Vaughn Monroe. Magnificent!

Bought this CD for my wife, she absolutely loves it. Has listened to it daily since Christmas.
