The pinnacle of the 70's sound is here. The man does it all, ballads, funk, dance. All of these songs bring back memories, especially the few from "The Mack" I jst wish Motown would release his "The mark of the beast" and "Ode To my lady"from 74 and 75

"SLICK" will probably be one of his biggest songs, Willie Hutch will be most remembered for, along with "BROTHER'S GONNA WORK IT OUT", "IN & OUT", "LOVE POWER", and "PARTY DOWN". Let's not forget he wrote "I'LL BE THERE" for the Jackson 5. He will be sadly missed . I'm sure he's in Motown Heaven !!

More 70's music. You should have been there. I can still see Willie performing his interpretation of The Way We Were on American Bandstand. Outstanding! And what a response he got. I'm sure the off-camera stage crew were holding up applause signs, but the applause for Willie went beyond that. Possessing a distinctive, emotive, melodic voice, he didn't just sing to you, he told you a story, and more often than not, had a way of making you feel what he was feeling. One of Motown's most under-rated performers, it's a shame his only big individual success came with the release of the super soundtrack "The Mack". Make no mistake about it though, the songs on this "best of" are vintage Hutch, the aforementioned The Way We Were, Party Down, Love Power, Sunshine Lady, I Choose You (one of my all-time favorite slow jams), and What You Gonna Do After The Party, being the best of a solid bunch. A welcome addition to my collection. Thank you Motown.
