Great directions. Great resource,

This book gives a very detailed explanation of how to knit with both circular needles and double pointed needles. It does NOT cover using 1 or 2 circular needles to make small tubes for socks, etc.
I found the directions easy to understand, and the pictures are excellent. I finally understood how to cast on and knit with double pointed needles by using this book. I also discovered that I hate dpns and don't ever want to knit on them again!! Using 2 circular needles is much easier. The author really covers just about everything that you'd need to know. The patterns are nice, but since many of them are on dpns, I probably won't be making many, but that is not the fault of the book. The stitch patterns in the last section are really nice. They are all written in the round, and she has a nice variety. Using this book has inspired me to knit my hats in the round with 16" circular needles. And, someone suggested usins 11" circular needles for the decreases at the crown in the place of dpns. Sounds good to me. If you'd like to learn about knitting in the round, this is a great resource.

I love this book!! It has a wide variety of projects, including hats and mittens and gloves, socks, pillows, and toys, and more!! Beginners will be treated to lots of pages on specific knitting techniques for knitting in the round, and the wide variety of projects will please anyone who loves circular knitting.

Lots of patterns, but leans more towards double point needles rather than circular. For someone not just moving into using circular needles, all the dp patterns are probably easily adaptable... on the other hand, for someone who is just starting to use the circular method, an explanation of how to swap needles would have been good.

This book was just ok. I am a fairly new knitter, can knit in the round, but these were still too difficult for me to do. I would not call them VERY easy. The book did have some cute patterns though.

I knit both flat and in the round (about equally), and I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know the basics of circular knitting. I think it's THE best general instruction book I've seen on the subject, particularly because of the great photos illustrating the steps. (Any book that also includes information on both the "English" and "Continental" methods of knitting gets a plus from me!) In fact, many things illustrated would be useful for any style knitting. A lot is covered in this book from materials and tools all the way through assembly. There are a variety of patterns to try out the techniques.(accessories, pillows, little toys, sweaters) I found the tips and stitch pattern library invaluable. (Please note that I have the edition with the blue cover, which appears to have the same ISBN.)
