THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALIST ON RECORD,
By Ron Ball (Las Vegas, NV) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Very Best of Connie Francis (21 tracks) (Polydor) (Audio CD)
That "catch" in her voice makes you want to cry...that phrasing makes you want to sing...these songs are timeless. Few female vocalists are as distinct. Want to tame a room full of people? Nothing like MY HAPPINESS. She had the power.

A Rock 'n Roll Essential Album,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Very Best of Connie Francis (21 tracks) (Polydor) (Audio CD)
Connie Francis created an amazing contribution to the burgeoning field of rock 'n roll within a five year span. All of the important chart hits are found here from 1958-63. Connie brought a style to rock and roll singing that is similar in contribution as Elvis. From her first smash "Who's Sorry Now" her raucuos "Stupid Cupid" to her signature "Where the Boys Are" Connie brought a sophistication to rock singing that was absent until her presence on the scene. Although shadowed over the years by her male contemporaries, Connie Francis stands the test of time, as this wonderful collection of hit records attests. An essential part of any rock collection; "The Very Best of Connie Francis" is the very best of the early days of rock 'n roll!

Vintage Hits,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Very Best of Connie Francis (21 tracks) (Polydor) (Audio CD)
Well, what can be said about Connie Francis? On this CD, you will find vintage hits. Connie's stellar career produced so many hits that not all could be included on this CD. However, the choice of material here includes samplings of her ballad hits and her rock and roll hits. It does not by any stretch of the imagination reflect her versatility. As an artist, Connie is most likely one of the most versatile, performing a wide variety of genres and ethnic material. I must say that most of her recordings have reflected talent and versatility and charm not found in many vocalists, certainly not the ones of today. Connie also became one of the most successful live acts around for such a long time, and, out of her early rock and roll successes, she became an entertainer of the first magnitude. While this CD is a good representation of her hits, it by no means reflects the greatness of her talent. It simply gives you a glimpse of the commercial appeal of her talents. Her greatest works are found on other LPs.

There probably are a dozen different "Best of" Connie Francis albums out there. For a single disk compilation, this one is the best by far. It has everything she did that you could possibly remember. Unless you tend toward her more arcane less popular tracks, this is the one to get. I bought this one as a replacement for the copy that got caught and destroyed by my faulty automobile CD player.

Is this a CD that is able to be played in the U.S.? Because it said "import" and I don't know what that means. If anyone knows, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I remember when Connie started singing back in 1958 with her first hit Who's Sorry Now. She has always performed with such artistry that I can listen to her CD's forever. She has many great hits on this CD and they sound perfect just as they did back in the 60's. This CD is definitely one of my favorites.

What an incredible voice!! The best version of "Rockabye" I have heard since Garland's!! Why did they keep her recording those insipid teen tunes when she could belt with the best of them??? What a shame she never married Bobby Darin!! What a team they would have made!!! Anyway, a great CD!! Buy it, if you can still find it!!

Connie Francis Greatest Hits,
By gramachudy (Portland, Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Very Best of Connie Francis (21 tracks) (Polydor) (Audio CD)
Ordered this CD for my daughter, she loves the oldies, I think it reminds her of her childhood and listening to me listen to all my old records back in the 70's. I would have liked to have seen the list of songs before I purchased this CD, but all that was shown on the ad was the front cover of the album and it was kind of hard to read the small print. Some of the songs(there are 21) I had never heard before. But all in all, I'm happy with the purchase. You can't go wrong with Connie Francis!

What can i say Connie Francis is the truest singer there could be,some years ago Maury Povich Had a local show here in Philly called AM/PM and his guest was Connie Francis.I wanted to meet her and get a picture with her and we went backstage. When Connie Saw us she acted like she had known us all her life, and yet had never seen us before. This is the kind of person that is the gold standard for the Entertainment industry.Buy anything of Connies as she makes every song hers or others all her own..Love You Connie...Scott Denny |
