The book is about Nikki Beauvisage and Sam Walker (of the Walker Family series).

Nikki's grandpa attaches a caveat to his will, whereby she does not get the money unless she is married for a year. She needs the money to keep her NPO inner-city Daycare center open.

Sam's niece, Mary, needs a very expensive operation. No one in the family has the kind of money needed to fund the procedure.

Sam and Nikki get married. They become friends, and then lovers.

It could have been such a wonderful, heartwarming story - both H/H are driven by non-selfish desires...but it just fell flat. The relationship between the two didn't work for me, and the way they kept allowing misunderstandings to get in their way was too over the edge.

I still LOVE Ms. Schulze's works...but will stick with the tried and true (Secondhand Husband, Baby Bargain, The Marriage, Short Straw Bride) on my keeper shelf...until I come across another one I haven't read, and I'll get that, too.
