Campy, corny and predictably bad ... and those are the good points., December 21, 2008
"Too Cool For Christmas" (Canada, 2004) tells the story of self-centered and spoiled 16 year old Lindsay Dearborn, who plans to ditch spending Christmas with her family (actually, a gay father and his life partner, along with her little sister) in order to go on a "really cool" ski trip with some friends. When even her friend Paige tells her that her negative attitude about the holidays is getting to be a bit much, she tries to befriend the mall's Santa (George Hamilton), who confides in her that Mrs. Claus doesn't seem to be so romantic with him anymore, even though they successfully made it through the "700-year Itch" part of their marriage (Hint: Get ready for MANY very bad puns!) Of course, Lindsay puts Santa through a total makeover, and is rewarded with an invitation to accompany Santa on his Christmas Eve rounds ... but in her sports car, since she is leery about traveling in a flying sleigh without seat belts. Of course, Santa intends the trip to show Lindey Hamilton the true holiday spirit. Hamilton essentially plays a parody of himself, including an encounter with a tabloid photographer. Additional comedy relief (as if it was needed) is provided by a nerdy but egotistical mall cop, who threatens Lindsay with being banned from the mall for life.
It is interesting to note that Liberation Productions, affiliated with the gay pay TV channel Here!, also made (the way it is classified on IMDB) a "censored" version of the film, with is called "A Very Cool Christmas." The only difference: Lindsay has a traditional heterosexual set of parents.
Corny and campy, of course, but otherwise incredibly stupid and predictable. If you're a George Hamilton fan (Anyone?), you'll love it. Otherwise, if you can find it Here!OnDemand, or a cheap rental, it might be a good background film for a gay holiday party, with the sound replaced by your favorite music. DVD has no special features to speak of. Give it two humbug stars out of five.

Great new twist on Xmas, January 2, 2008
This review is from: A Very Cool Christmas (DVD)
Finally a studly Santa. This movie is pure fun. I enjoyed this movie because it was really entertaining and and something different on the Xmas theme. George Hamilton is great as the new groomed but still gentle and kind Santa. Brooke Devin is delightful and the ending with Donna Mills a great twist. As for credibility, C'mon folks this is a Santa movie.
Perhaps the ending had more meaning for me than others because I had the same story line happen to me with my little brother when I was 19. (Minus the ride with Santa)
Lighten up this a great holiday movie.

Too Cool for Christmas is about selflessness, June 16, 2010
This movie is about the holiday spirit and about selflessness and about giving back to other people. I think the movie has a lot of fun and it's funny and it's about a spoiled and sefish and dizy teenage girl who is living in the city with her two dads and a cute little sister played by Jodelle Ferland. love her, anyway she girl is very self-absored and loves to spend time at the mall and shop and talk on the phone with her best friend and have fun. She hates Christmas and the holiday season and only pretends to like it for her little sister and dads. She especially hates this Christmas. She acts sort of retarded, but then she meets a Santa at the mall a friendly one and he insists for her help on changing his look. She agrees, though she's no fashion stylist and she hates old Saint Nick. She goes however agree to help him change his look for the holidays. She takes him to the gym to lose weight from all those milk and cookies that Mrs. Claus feeds him and she gets him a new wardrobe and a new hairdo and a new life. He thanks her and offers a ride back in his sled with his flying reindeer. It seems that he's really Saint Nicholas. She's surprised but flattered however she wants him to ride in her car of all things and for him to fly it. he does, while delivering his presents to all the children of the world or at least the town. The girl is suprised by how happy Christmas is and she is moved by the holiday spirit. She helps Santa put all the presents under the tree for the children and she learns the real meaning of Christmas. She goes back to her home where her sister is and her dads. She spends the holidays with them, and her sister gets what she wants and the Santa gets a whole new makeover and a whole new life. She is happy to have been of service. Jodelle Ferland is adorable and good in this movie. I have to say the movie was alright but I thought it could've been better. And the two dads is bad for a holiday movie for children, it should have been rated PG-13 instead because of the gay themes. It's sick to see something like that, even in today's world. It's a great story though about how a sefish girl gets transformed into a decent and selfless person all before midnight on Christmas's eve. this movie was okay and I guess it wasn't too serious or anything.
