There's more to Sendak than monsters,
By Peter H. "Peter H." (Monrovia, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Very Far Away (Hardcover)
A little boy is tired of his mother not answering his questions, so he makes an attempt to find Very Far Away. On his journey, he meets a horse who wants to dream more, a bird who misses his home where people are refined and a cat who wants to sing without interruptions. Really a cute, fun book.

Great book and very funny!,
By Mrs. Doctor Who (Raleigh, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Very Far Away (Hardcover)
I have to disagree with the negative review of this book. If you know anything about children and their thought processes, this book will crack you up! The boy in this book is not depressed but just craving attention because of a new sibling. He decides to run away from home and meets some companions along the way. They go down the street and eventually realize that spending to much time with anyone gets on your nerves. The boy misses his mom and ends up returning home. I feel the interactions between the boy and his companions in their "happy place" are actually symbolic of life in a relationship, a family, and society.

grows on our grandson,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Very Far Away (Hardcover)
Our 3 year old grandson snuggled up to get this book read the first time, and after we were through I wasn't sure if he liked it or not. To him it seemed strange. But the next day he wanted to read it again, and then the next day again, and on and on. WHY this? and WHY that? great book.
