Isaac is a hedgehog all alone, and he likes it that way. After an apple falls on his back and gets stuck, how will he ever remove it? I mean, he doesn't have any friends to help him. Or does he? Maybe this predicament will help Isaac make a friend.

A wonderful fall story about unexpected friendships blossoming in delightful ways, I am very excited to read this story to the preschoolers that visit the library for storytime. Besides just being really sweet, it also helps teach children the importance of actually having friends to rely on. The illustrations are simple enough, perfect for the story. Without giving away the element of surprise that I was granted while reading this book, I will say that the ending was adorable.

Unfortunately this book was only able to be ordered in paperback. We get a cart of new books at work, and my coworkers and I love to pick through it to find books to read in storytimes. Afterward, every book on the cart gets checked. It wasn't until checking every book that I found this one because it got lost between two other books. Thankfully, I decided to read it at that point. I started chuckling at about the fourth page, and I got another delightful chuckle at the end. My giggles intrigued a coworker, and she read it as well. I'm very happy I didn't tell her what happens in the book, because I believe a lot of the joy is in the surprise of discovering it yourself. Very thankful to find this gem to add to the storytime collection!

One of our fav. books. My two-year old grandson often asks me to read it. It's got a clear, great storyline but not preachy. (We hates preachy in this house!) Lovely illustrations. One of those books you will never 'give away,' but pass on to younger family members.
