UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! Here's PROOF as to why reading reviews is helpful, and my thanks goes out to Berry327 for the tip on how to get to the actual story. Read his/her review so you can comment on this story and not the single chapter of "The Nine Lives of Christmas" on which the download opens.
So now my review of "A Very Holly Christmas: An Exclusive Short Story": The short story "A Very Holly Christmas" is just that, a VERY short story which, although complete, leaves a lot to be desired. This is a follow up to another book about "Holly" (which is the name of a town and not a person) and describes a little slice of time and life in Holly. The story seems to feature a town full of quirky and semi- or fully-dysfunctional families, which some readers may find humorous or cute, but doesn't do much for me. Although well written, I imagine that if you had read the prior book, your knowledge of who, why, what, where and when would have helped with the characters in this book--but all in all, it was cohesive, had a clear beginning, middle and end and as such is a complete short story. I'm not sure if this compels me to seek out and read the first book, perhaps so but... I might be more interested in the "Nine Lives of Christmas" story featuring Ambrose the cat.
I'm not sure what's going on here but I pre-ordered the book "A Very Holly Christmas", which was supposed to be a full short story, but what I got was one chapter of the book "The Nine Lives of Christmas". Hopefully this can be sorted out so I can read the book I pre-ordered.
As for Ambrose the cat in the chapter I read?...It seemed to be a well written story with a plot I might be interested in so perhaps you should look into it under its correct heading.
