Editorial Reviews

Review

"A savory holiday compilation. The ten songs on the CD...range from power pop to country to jazz-inflected crooning. Each is a polished number, and the whole a spicy stylistic blend." -- The Hudson County Current

"One of the most engaging new Christmas rock albums of 1996, especially for those who prefer tight, quirky power-pop songs to sober reflections on the holiday's meaning." -- The Newark Star-Ledger

"Packed with first-rate material from start to finish, and an essential addition to any holiday hit parade." -- THE AQUARIAN WEEKLY

"The best of several new 'alternative' Christmas collections." -- THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

4.0 out of 5 stars HEAT MISER ROCKS! December 21, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Even if you hate every other song on here (there are some to like a lot and some to program out of your cd player forever), the disk is worth it for the Whatnot's version of "Heat Miser." Apparently, some other group's have jumped on the bandwagon on this tune, but the Whatnots did it first and best. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great holiday fun! January 3, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
There's a lot of variety on this disc and I like every single song on it. It rocks in some spots, makes you laugh in some spots, and makes the house feel real Christmas-y at other times. Finally, a holiday CD to call my own. Only a grinch would have anything bad to say about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I know it says explicit lyrics, but... October 14, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This CD is a lot of fun, and there's really only one swear word on it, in Track 10 by the Goatmen; it's the "F" word, but it's said out of enthusiasm about the holiday rather than as a sacrilege. I love that song, and "Heat Miser" is hilarious! In fact, all the songs are really good, even the corny ones...I think it's because the CD is paced just right, and there's a lot of variety. And it's true what they say...I listen to it in the summer, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Holiday CD Ever! November 25, 2006
By Jon G
Format:Audio CD
I was lucky enough to find this CD in college. I was the DJ on WPNR 90.7fm in Utica NY that did the year end holiday special. This CD was almost thrown away. I've listened to it every year since then. The Goatmen and Whatnots are amazing on this CD... but pretty much every track is great!!!
