4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to industrial music, November 30, 2004
By
This review is from: Very Best of Industrial Revolution (Audio CD)
I bought "The Very Best of Industrial Revolution" at the start of what would become my obsession with industrial music a few years ago. It would also be my first exposure to great bands like Skinny Puppy, Project Pitchfork, Razed in Black, and Front Line Assembly. This really helped usher in a new era for me. All the songs on this one disc compilation epitomizes what industrial music is all about. The highlights for me were Razed in Black's "What's Fair". The song itself really holds up well and is very fitting in this politically charged climate today. Although a bit different from what I have heard from RiB recently, the song itself is still good. The melodies and vocals are outstanding. Front Line Assembly's "Epidemic" was also the first song I had been exposed to and I loved what I heard. The abrasive, searing industrial beats is classic FLA. There was not one song on the cd I couldn't find that I didn't like. This was and is a great introduction to one of music's most underrated genres.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Very Best of Industrial Revolution, December 19, 2000

This review is from: Very Best of Industrial Revolution (Audio CD)
This compilation signifies the very essence of industrial music and shows the evolution of it through the years (1986-2000) In all honesty i'm very weary of these Cleopatra Compilations, but this was a great justice to the industrial music genre. It includes tracks from great industrial bands; Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, Laibach, Test Dept. and more. Frankly I think this is a must have for anyone who is a fan of any of these bands or for someone who is just now getting into the beauty of industrial/metal. The best tracks on this CD are those of Front Line Assembly - Epidemic; Download - Mothersonne; and Psychic TV - Haunted. The roots of the music is the replication of mechanical machines banging and grinding, and the music lives up to the name. If you read this review do yourself a favor and pick this up, especially if you are a fan of Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Die Krups, KMFDM or any other major mainstream industrial bands.
