5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice to read and to hold!
The previous reviewers have already described the story very well so I won't add to that. I just want to describe the excellent way in which this book was built which is something you really can't tell from the Internet.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute illustrations, but NOT a pop up!
I purchased this book under the impression that it was a full-on pop up book. There is only one pop-up at the end of the story, and it is hardly a "pop-up" by my standards. There's a flap that folds open and up, making it appear as though the ladybug is flying up, but it's not that impressive. Still a cute book, however, with fun illustrations. The previous reviewers have already described the story very well so I won't add to that. I just want to describe the excellent way in which this book was built which is something you really can't tell from the Internet.

This book is of very excellent construction, is a very pleasing book to hold, should stand up to your kids' abuse and is an excellent addition to your collection. This book is like a giant board book. The book's dimensions are about 9"x11" so it's very significant which really helps bring the wonderful illustrations to life -- no squinting to see the pictures! Also, the pages are very thick -- like a board book -- except that the pages are several times bigger than a normal board book. The pages are also glossy and shiny so it's nice to hold and should also repel any liquids your kid spills on them. The illustrations are very cute and the colors are very vibrant, especially since the pages are so big.

Bottom line -- it's a beautiful book that will last for years.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very entertaining read, December 18, 2001

My 2 year old daughter loves this book. We have a lady bug handpuppet and I act out all of the ladybugs actions with the puppet as I read the book. My daughter's favorite part is when the elephant sneezes aaaaaachooo! It makes her laugh every time. Unfortunatly this part of the book is a fold out page and I try to avoid buying books with them if it all possible. Of course the page got ripped by an over entheusiastic toddler who just couldn't wait to get to her favorite part. I taped it back together and while it bothers me that it is ripped it does not faze her in the least. The story is delightful, the illustrations are sweet, and it makes my daughter laugh all of which makes this a winner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't be lazy! Read this to your kids!, January 16, 2001

This review is from: The Very Lazy Ladybug (Hardcover)
The Very Lazy Ladybug wants to find a new place to do her favorite thing, sleep. Unfortunately, she's spent too much time sleeping, and not enough time learning how to fly. Follow her as she tries out various animal body parts in her quest for the perfect napping spot. Great for prediction activities, developing vocabulary and adjectives, felt board stories, movement,etc.... Colorful illustrations and repetition that children will love. A great addition to any home or classroom collection!

This is a good longer book to read to my son when he wants to sit still. I like the story out line. I expected more pop ups, the only one is the last page. I also bought this book from amazon as new, but when I recieved it the cover looked a little damaged and used. Fun book to read overall.

It's a board book, so it is sturdy. It kept my infant son happy, but NOT what I was expecting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Cute book!, September 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Very Lazy Ladybug (Paperback)
I bought this for my three year old for her third birthday. The party was ladybug themed, so this book was a perfect gift. She loves this book and for two whole weeks after her birthday, this was the only book she wanted read before bed and nap. At the end when the elephant sneezes, she thought it was so funny (and it was even funnier when fake sneezing made her 5 month old brother laugh).

"The Very Lazy Ladybug" is a delightful book. The bright large pictures depict the journey of the lazy ladybug trying to find a good place to sleep. Children love identifying animals, acting the story and the very fun ending. Very engaging! A favorite to be read again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Favorite Read, February 22, 2010
This review is from: The Very Lazy Ladybug (Paperback)
From the first read this book has become a favorite of our toddler. She loves all the animals and the sneeze at the end never fails to bring a smile and a giggle. Also since this book has become a favorite it has turned out to be a great way to teach her how to care for books outside of the boardbook realm.

I would recommend this book to anyone who knows a toddler that loves reading. The story is a great length for the younger children and the illustrations are bright and eye catching for that age group. Definitely one to add to the bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars A busy pop-up book, December 15, 2009
If your child likes animals and pop-ups, this story is sure to please. The story starts out stating "The very lazy ladybug liked to sleep all day and all night. So she didn't know how to fly." The rest of the book details her adventures as she tries to find some place new to sleep, which is hard since she doesn't fly. The pages are full of colors and really cute pop-ups. There is plenty of opportunity to ask your toddler questions about what does a tiger say "ROAR" or to act out the various pages as the Lazy Ladybug finally learns how to fly.

5.0 out of 5 stars For "The Very Lazy Ladybug" a swift landing, May 21, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great book in fine condition sent quickly and with no complications. Pop ups are naturally magical for 3 to 5 year olds. This one works on so many level; ie the differing type for the action words, the variations of movements for the different animals the ladybug encounters. Great for story time in the classroom.
