Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Since there are not yet reviews book available for this particular edition you can refer to the kindle link to read reviews from readers. However, as the author I want to say here that this is the perfect edition to give as a gift to yourself, your friend, your aunt, your mother or grandmother or anyone who has arthritis or weak eyesight. It was specifically designed and formatted in an easy to read, oversized, large print paperback edition so that I could give a copy to my own parents as a gift.

I believe you will find that anyone who fondly remembers reading Georgette Heyer and Barbara Cartland's old-fashioned Regency Romance (i.e with the focus on courtship and witty repartee rather than bedroom scenes and sexual encounters) will enjoy reading A Very Merry Chase.

From the Back Cover

The highwayman was tall, so much so that he had to stoop to see his worthy opponent.  As he drank in her beauty with an arrogantly appraising eye, a sardonic smile played over his generous, well formed lips and highlighted the strength of his jaw.

"Would I be correct in assuming you to be the famous...or shall we say infamous, Lady Sabrina St. Clair?"

She responded with a starkly appraising look of her own, coupled with an imperiously raised brow and a single word, uttered slowly and with unmistakeably insulting disdain.

"Cretin."

Lighting fast, he was well inside the coach before she could even react.  She tried to fend him off; but to no avail.  He laughed as he swept her firmly into his arms and out into the moonlit night.

And thus begins the chase....

More About the Author

My name is Teresa Thomas Bohannon, I am the author of the Regency romance A Very Merry Chase and the Paranormal romance, Shadows In A Timeless Myth. This is my story.

Young, slender, I perched cross-legged on the foot of my bed. These days, I couldn't pretzel up like that if I tried, and even if I could I would probably be fancier about it and call it a lotus position. Back then I could do it easily enough, but it was just plain old sittin' cross-legged, and I was darned lucky I could do it, because if I hadn't been able to, I'd never written my first novel.

That was 35 years ago. With thousands of eagerly devoured books behind me, and nothing but a high school diploma to recommend me, I dared to send out that first query letter to an address I found in the library's copy of Writer's Digest. I couldn't believe it when the editor, impressed by my obvious love for the genre, replied immediately to say that she looked forward to reading my book. Unfortunately, it was just fate's cruel joke on either me or her; because by the time my carefully packed manuscript arrived in New York City a few weeks later, she had left the agency and my book was returned unread with a cursory note.

I never queried again. I convinced myself that it was for the best, and meant to be, that I wasn't ready. So instead of writing, I began endlessly editing and revising, until finally I convinced myself that I just wasn't good enough. After that I wrote for the sheer love of writing with an idea that someday, maybe I would officially publish something. Eventually, I moved onto writing other things, looking for the confidence that I had lost somewhere along the way. Fantasy, sci fi, horror novels, screenplays and short stories followed, and along came kids and computers, web design, editing, writer's workshops and a special room just for writing and then degrees both BA and MA.

So here we are--35 years later and Regency romance I wrote so long ago, and the Paranormal romance that I have spent the past 26 years working on as time and inclination allowed are finally published. After all this time and all the mileage, the wondrous, wonderful Internet has come to my rescue, allowing me the luxury of finally being able to self-publish my stories, beginning--naturally--with the first novel I ever wrote.

Teresa Thomas Bohannon holds an M.A.in history, with a special concentration in women's studies. She formerly served as a gemstone show host for an independent shopping channel and was known as the Queen of the Gemstone Dungeon. For the past fourteen years, she has been employed as the HR Director for a large non-profit agency. She has two grown sons and spends her weekends and vacations writing.

I expected the outcome, but things didn't come about the way I thought they would in the end and it's always nice to have some twists in the plot.

I love historical romances, my favorite is the Regency period, and this met both of them.

This was a very fun, quick read. There are some very witty and humorous parts that I really enjoyed. I expected the outcome, but things didn't come about the way I thought they would in the end and it's always nice to have some twists in the plot. It was also very clean except for some brief mild language.

A Very Merry Chase is a classic Regency Romance. If you love Georgette Heyer you'll love this book. It was nearly bed time when I started reading. I told myself I'd just read the first chapter. Ha! By four in the morning I had to force myself to stop and go to bed. After about two hours sleep I got up to see my husband off to work and then after waving him away with bloodshot eyes, I finished the book. There's a large group of minor characters in the background and several times I had to stop and remember who was who, but I loved all the main characters including the bad guy (who isn't very lovable, but there's something about him that makes me hope he has a happy end somewhere). For some reason I assumed the ending would be very similar to the first chapter (but different) and it wasn't so I was slightly disappointed, but with hindsight the real ending works very well. The characters are strong and stable and Bohannon has a gift for timing. She builds tension and releases it at the perfect moment. I look forward to buying her future stories (whatever the genre).

Last month I won an e-version of A Very Merry Chase, a fun regency romance written by Teresa Thomas Bohannon. I have to admit I admire Ms. Bohannon--in the intro of the book she tells that this was 30+ years in the making. Personally, I am not sure I would ever have that much patience with the process; however, I think the end result was worth the effort because A Very Merry Chase has memorable characters and fast moving plot. I particularly liked Sabrina St. Clair, the lead character in the novel. She is a spunky woman who more than meets her match in Lord Branderly. If you like regency romance, this is worth the purchase!

I was transported to the past when I enjoyed the pleasure of reading a Georgette Heyer or a lighter Carla Kelly for the first time.
This book was a delightful light Regency Romance that amused me from start to finish. Misunderstandings, witty dialogue, and plot twists were ready fare.

The heroine is a beautiful head strong lady who is used to having male admirers and doing as she pleases.
The hero is a man who has found his fortune and received his title after a harsh upbringing that made him of sterner stuff than the average nobleman about Town.
A misunderstood situation involving the two of them starts them off on the wrong foot, but a greedy villain who will go his length to get what he wants, a mystery surrounding her missing brother, and supporting characters who help or hinder as the case may be send them on this Very Merry Chase of love.

And to think this was the author's first writing effort. Enjoy it, I did!

I loved this book. I love historical romances, my favorite is the Regency period, and this met both of them. I believe the title of the book tells it all. This is such a lively well written book with fantastic characters. It was fast paced, which I also enjoy in a book. Sometimes your historicals are not always fast paced, but A Very Merry Chase definitely is. I would highly recommend to someone who is looking for a fast merry chase into romance.

This is a wonderful Regency romance. The author knows her stuff and takes you
back to a time in England that was rife with social intrigue and humor.
Loved it and you will as well!
