I heard Nigel Kennedy and his Polish Quintet play live at the BBC Proms in July of 2008. They performed most of this album and it was sensational. The music is ingenious- a mix of classic and jazz and klezmer folk music. It's brilliant.
As eccentric as Nigel Kennedy is in the media, he's a musical genius and in this album he's doing music that he enjoys, which is both contemporary and classic at the same time.
