4.0 out of 5 stars Coming home..., November 4, 2004

This review is from: Very Private Duty: The Blackstones of Virginia (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Intrigued by the first Blackstone brother, Ryan from The Long Hot Summer? Couldn't wait for the next story to be released? Well wait no more. Rochelle Alers is back with her second installment in The Blackstones of Virginia series. This is Jeremy's story...

During their teen years, Jeremy Blackstone and Tricia Parker were in love and virtually inseparable. Their plans for happily ever after came to a screeching halt when Jeremy up and leaves without any explanation.

Fast forward fourteen years. Jeremy and Tricia are both back at Blackstone Farms; it's not a joyous occasion though. Jeremy has been hurt and needs 'round the clock care, and with Tricia being a nurse, she's asked to provide his care. Both Jeremy and Tricia balk at the idea, but realize their arguments are fruitless, so they quickly establish a platonic nurse/patient relationship. Before long, the couple become aware that the passion that burned between them so many years ago was not extinguished with their break-up, instead it was merely laying dormant, waiting for a little spark to bring it flaming back to life. Will Jeremy and Tricia be able to get past the hurt and secrets that they harbor and accept that their destiny is inexplicably intertwined?

VERY PRIVATE DUTY was a quick, heartwarming read. If you've ever doubted the age-old adage of "absence makes the heart grow fonder", Rochelle Alers shoots down all doubts with Jeremy and Tricia's journey to forever. Ms. Alers is definitely a master of the romance genre and fans new and old are sure to treasure this story just as I did. (RAW Rating: 3.5)

5.0 out of 5 stars You Have to Love Rochelle Alers, November 8, 2004

This review is from: Very Private Duty: The Blackstones of Virginia (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Back Cover of the Book Reads:

At one time, nothing had been able to quench Jeremy Blackstone's insatiable hunger for luscious Tricia Parker. He'd lived for their passion-filled encounters even though they were from such different worlds. Then ugly accusations of her betrayal ripped them apart...

Years later Tricia had come home to help her grandfather, not to rekindle her affair with Blackstone. But Jeremy was injured and needed her nursing skills. Staying by Jeremy's bedside and seeing to his most intimate needs stirred a sensous yearning in Tricia she couldn't control. Like deja vu, the magnetic closeness they once shared ignited an irresistible attraction that inexorably pulled them together...again.

I loved this book and honestly can't believe someone said this book was awful. This book was great, and in so many ways, classic Rochelle Alers. Jeremy and Tricia have that once in a lifetime love that you only wish, hope, and dream you could have, and Alers writes their passion for each other better than almost anyone. I highly recommend this book and also highly recommend buying any other books by her especially in the Hideaway series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Repeating Lovers, September 12, 2005
This review is from: Very Private Duty: The Blackstones of Virginia (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Rochelle Alers brings back The Blackstone's of Virginia as we take a look at the youngest son and a past love that requires love, compassion, and patients to deal with.

Jeremiah "Jeremy" Blackstone returned home from a DEA mission gone bad to only need a private nurse to help care for him while he return to his normal state of himself. When his father and brother realize this they ask his once fiancée Tricia Parker to be his nurse neither knew of the love that the two shared before and neither knew of the lie that had spilt them apart.

Tricia Parker had been visiting her grandfather on the Blackstone Farm when she heard that Jeremy had been hurt after having his brother and father ask her to take care of him while he made his recover she decided that she could at least give him the benefit of the doubt and help him back to health even though she still held him responsible for certain turns of her life.

Neither Jeremy or Tricia realize what would happen with true love standing between them nothing would keep them apart even their stubbornness for one another but could a simple truth of matter keep them apart or would it only bring them together.

Rochelle Aler gives an intriguing look at the family dynamics as she writes. She allows her characters to show who they are through their positions in the book and what they do for a living. Rochelle will always give a person a hard look at what romance is as she continues to write intriguing stories of love.
