Book Description

December 13, 2011
CREATIVE FICTION THAT FITS ON A POST-IT BUT CAN MOVE READERS WITH POWERFUL TALES OF LOVE, LIFE, DEATH, AND EVERYDAY LIFE

In this one-of-a-kind collection, author Sean Hill has crafted hundreds of engaging stories that conjure an entire novel in just a sentence or two. Sometimes sad, often humorous and always creative, these tales touch on a wide range of life experiences from romance and family to death and sex.

Nana rocked in her old wooden rocking chair. “Timmy, you have always been my favorite,” she said. He looked at her. “Nana, I’m Bobby.”

Read your diary, discovered your secret. I thought I loved you, but now I’m not sure. Don’t know what to do, you look so human.

Clowning was Daryl’s profession, cooking was his passion. Stella thought he was perfect. She liked to laugh and never learned to cook.

Alex bought Sharon a ring for Valentine’s Day, which she sold to buy the gun that stopped him from loving her.

In 2009, Sean Hill combined his love of writing and technology by creating @VeryShortStory, a Twitter feed where he interacts with his readers and shares his 140-character stories.

About the Author

Sean Hill is a writer, speaker, and creativity consultant.

He was overexposed to a potent combination of Twilight Zone and Monty Python as a child. This lead him down a dark path from which he never fully recovered and bound him with a passion to storytelling.

Sean has spent much of his life combining creativity with work. Starting at age 19, he designed and programmed award-winning video games until he discovered improvisation, where ideas could be expressed as fast as they could be thought.

He is the Founder of the Hideout Theatre, the premier venue in Austin, Texas, for helping people expand their creativity through the study of improv comedy, storytelling, and the art of creating in the moment.

In 2009, Sean combined his love of writing and technology by creating @VeryShortStory, a Twitter feed where over 100,000 followers read the short stories he creates in 140-characters.

When not writing, Sean teaches creativity, communication, collaboration, and innovation, workshops to clients such as Motorola and the University of Texas MBA program.

Sean lives happily in Austin, Texas, with his wife, four children, and a lot of dogs. He can often be found performing improv comedy around town with his friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK!! December 18, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Okay I might be just a little biased since I know Sean from high school but his book is really a great, and quick, read. I LOVED almost every single "short" story and thought the remaining 2% was good too. Sean has shown how quick-witted, funny, hilarious, endearing(yes, I said that) and intelligent he really is. I recommend it for anyone, especially if you're easily distracted and can only read for a couple minutes, it's easy to pick up where you left off;~P GREAT JOB Sean!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic stories! In Twitter sized chunks. January 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been subscribed to @VeryShortStory on Twitter for quite a while. His stories are considerably good and funny. I keep him on mobile update so I don't miss a single story. It's great tip have so many of his best stories on one place, what you can sit down and read them all easily. I've spread the word to many of my friend a, and they almost always jump in and follow him as well.

Oh, and thanks to Sean for the special story for my 50th birthday.

I received an email the other day that stated:

As we all know, sometimes less is actually more. And that couldn't ring more true for "Very Short Stories," a new book featuring 300 bite-size works of fiction.

Based on the popular Twitter feed @VeryShortStory (which boasts nearly 100,000 followers), these powerful 140-character tales of love, life, death and everything in between conjure an entire novel in just a sentence or two....

OK, I'll bite. I know how hard it is to tweet in 140 characters. I must be very wordy because I need to redo my posts at least three times before they are ready to tweet. This dude, can actually write a story in 140 characters? Wait, I need to read this!

So the publisher got me a copy and low and behold...he can!

Author Sean Hill has written hundreds of stories that elude to a novel in 140 characters. Goddess brought the book over and said, "What does this say?"

I told her that this was a book of short stories and some were funny, some sad but they were creative. She asked me to read her some. So I chose the ones that didn't deal with sex or death like and started reading each one and ending with "The End" so she would get the idea.

After I had read about 6 she said, "You are RIGHT! Those are short stories. The shortest ones I ever heard!"

Visit Sean Hill @VeryShortStory, a Twitter feed to chat or follow or maybe add your own 140 character story. I know I won't be able to do it and if you are a follower and a personal friend, you know that I type much more than talk so this would never work for me. But I will try, so in the Sean Hill vein, I will leave you with, @VeryShortStory my review of you is up & ready, you shouldn't feel unsteady. Fun times were had by one & all. I just tripped across the hall.
