More About the Author

Noel Gyro Potter, was born and raised in the Los Angeles area of California. In addition to being a children's book author, Noel is a very active wife and mother of three sons. Introduced to karate in 1990 by her husband, Johnny Gyro, Noel began ethusiastically studying martial arts and self defense. Currently holding the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt, upon the achievement of her first Black Belt many years ago, Noel began teaching children and adults with her husband at their family owned karate studio where she particularly enjoyed teaching children. Additionally, Noel is a dedicated fitness and health devotee. During her son's growing years, Noel read avidly with her children and began to write stories specifically for them. Through the encouragement of others, "The Adventures of Marshall & Art" were written, created & published. In addition, her ambitions directed her to answer the call to protect women from criminal attacks and to respond to children victimized by bullying. Two award winning DVD's were created and released world wide. "Live to Tell About It", teaching women and teen girls lifesaving self defense techniques, knowledge and awareness; and "Bully 911" for children to combat the harmful physical and mental effects of bullying. The educational and upbeat real life themes of "The Adventures of Marshall & Art" encapsulate Noel's positive outlook on life and in her works with and for children of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story about kids and conquering bullying!, October 5, 2008
This review is from: A Very Sticky Situation (Adventures of Marshall & Art) (Library Binding)
A Very Sticky Situation (The Adventures of Marshall & Art)

As a teacher, I found this book to be a great, uplifting story to help kids learn that there are positive ways to handle bullies!! "A Very Sticky Situation" reminds us how prevalent bullying is in our schools and kids need ways to learn how to resolve it. This well written, beautifully illustrated story takes us from the common fears that bullies create, to a confrontation and concluding with a heartwarming, clever ending! A bonus is included in the useful tips found in the back of the book for parents and kids which I found to be very helpful. These books also provide great classroom value when teaching character development and writing topics for kids! I searched and found three other stories in "The Adventures of Marshall & Art" series that I also intend to purchase! Credit goes to the author for her desire to assist and educate children on the heartbreaking, inevitable issue of bullying while writing an entertaining story to enhance kid's lives! Parents and teachers should read this book together with their children - very well done!
