This is a young Canadian artist waiting to be discovered south of the border. Previously I had to order from a Canadian record company so at least she is being handled in the states. Thank you Amazon. Emilie-Claire Barlow is from a legit musical background, her father a drumnmer with the Boss Brass, and from the start her vocals were distinctive. Check the Tribute album, and her tribute to Ella. Wow!

Emilie-Claire Barlow's voice is sublime! It is smooth, clear, sweet and pure like none I have ever heard. As perfect and beautiful as her voice is there is a touch of lightness in it that makes this CD a bit of a "vacation". The song choice is warm and familiar, and the combination of voice and music on this CD is perfection!

Although I end up reiterating some of adjectives used by other reviewers, to describe Emilie-Claire Barlow's voice, it is smooth, clear, pure, beautiful yet sweet and playful, swinging with a touch of lightness..., and is certainly something unforgettable once you have heard. All the songs covered here are great, but I find especially the first two, "The Very Thought Of You" and "Almost Like Being In Love", just fabulous. While her previous CD "Like a Lover", especially the title track, was also superb, her voice in this CD sounds much more colorful and wonderfully expressive.

I had never heard of Emile Claire Barlow previously. I heard the song "The Very Thought of you" and just had to have it. I wanted to play it over and over again. This is sung with feeling in the most beautiful way ...sexy, dreamy and memorable. I would recommend this as a must have in anyone's collection.

I've heard a lot of female jazz vocalists and Barlow is top notch! Great control, a perfect tone, perfect pitch, and elegant musical interpretation. She even sings in three different languages (French, Portuguese and English). You will love this album!
