The Very Thought of You,
By Robert A Dryburgh (Winnipeg, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Very Thought of You (Audio CD)
This CD is superb! If you like the big band sounds of the thirties as I do, you will love this. Every cut is outstanding in both orchestration and vocals. The quality of the remastering from the original recordings is excellent.

Excellent Thirties Music,
This review is from: Very Thought of You (Audio CD)
My wife and I enjoy all things big band, and this cd was a wonderful find. Hadn't heard of Al Boally before but enjoyed his singing along with the listenable, danceable, romanceable tunes of the early thirties. We heartily recommend it. We are ordering another Ray Noble title this week.

Ray Noble did wonderful music arrangements; he was ahead of his time. He had a smooth, romantic style with a jazzy flair.

Again another example of music that helped shape the Great American Song Book. Ray Noble and his orchestra with vocals featuring Al Bowlly is superb listening. If you appreciate good music like me you too will enjoy this wonderful cd.

English Swing,
By
This review is from: Very Thought of You (Audio CD)
An excellent album of English swing from the 30s and 40s.
A style which was overlooked by American dominance in jazz but is every bit its equal.
