More About the Author

Kerrelyn Sparks is the New York Times bestselling author of the Love at Stake series. Her heroes are generally fanged or furry, but never suffer from cavities or fur balls. And in spite of a tendency to nibble or howl at the moon, they're still wonderfully romantic. Please feel free to visit www.kerrelynsparks.com where you can read excerpts, play vampire games, join the forum, or send Kerrelyn an e-mail. She loves hearing from readers!

This short story was originally published in the Sugarplums and Scandal anthology which I never read. Since I love the Love at Stake series, I was so excited to find out that I could purchase this story without having to buy the anthology. "A Very Vampy Christmas" appears to be one of the earlier stories in the series because there were some single characters who aren't any longer (Ian McPhie, I am looking at you!). I have read about Maggie and Don a few times in the other books and I knew they ended up together but I was never sure exactly how that came to be.

I need to wonder no more! This story is short and quick but it is also fun and as has all the trademark humor I've come to enjoy in the Love At Stake series. The story was well worth the $1.99 I paid for it for my Kindle. This has made me even more excited for the next full book "Sexiest Vampire Alive" to be released. If you have somehow never managed to read a book in this series, you are missing out. Start with the first book "How to Marry A Millionaire Vampire". You won't regret it.

Kerrelyn Sparks was able to capture the right amount of romance and action into this short story. I adored this tale. I was so excited to get to read Maggie and Don Orlando's story and I wasnt disappointed at all. This series rocks! I want more of this world..

I love the series fun quick reads, but this one fell short. You really wouldn't miss anything if you skipped it

If you’ve never read this author and you’re wondering what the fuss is about, this is a good introduction to the wonderfully wacky world of the Love at Stake series. It gives you all the quirkiness, a nice dose of sexiness, and wraps it in a nice holiday bow.

Maggie has been on DVN for a while, pining over Don Orlando. Sure, he seems like a player who is up to no good, but Maggie can’t help but hold out hope that there is more to him than just sex appeal. After a scorching on-set kiss, Maggie is even more determined to find out who he really is (especially since he has amnesia!). In a page straight out of a soap opera, Maggie and Don Orlando head out to follow clues about his mysterious past. They certainly don’t lead where you think they will, and this budding couple ends up having a holiday they won’t ever forget.

Yet another author that has snuck their way into my ever expanding "must read everything this author has ever written circle" :). I am officially hooked on this steamy vampire series! Hot Vampires, hunky highlanders in kilts, sprinkle in some were-creatures and add a soundtrack of sexy accents and welcome to wonderful world of Kerrelyn Sparks. Sit back and be prepared to be bitten. Just make sure to stay away from the Malcontents!

I knew going in that it was just a short story, but considering the quality of some of the books I've gotten for free or $1.99 on here, i was expecting something kinda decent or even good. The story started out the same way the author's other books do, and I was curious to read this one after seeing references to it in so many of the other books. I was enjoying it somewhat, and going "OK, I can suspend disbelief" right up until the sudden declarations of love and all of the conversations that happened the next morning (which just happens to be Christmas, though there is no build-up in the story to make you aware of the timeframe. Same as saying it's all happening on a Tuesday). It was like the author had suddenly had enough. It also seems like it was supposed to be a regular novel, but wasn't approved, so someone said, "Hey, just cut it off right here on Christmas day and we can stick it in a holiday collection." Ridiculously rushed. Would it really have hurt to at least stretch it out for another chapter? There's no resolution to speak of. If I had known better, I probably wouldn't have even read it if it were free. You glean enough about their story from reading the other books, so it was a waste of time to read this, not to mention pay for it.

I thought this series would be like the Argeneau Vampire Series. It is good, but not quite as entertaining. Honestly I can't really pin down why. The characters are enjoyable, the world they operate in is interesting and the love stories are engaging. I've read about 1/2 the series, but kinda fizzled out. May pick it up again later when I catch up on some other series...
