5.0 out of 5 stars Up close and personal with Björk, August 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Bjork - Vessel [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I had already owned "Live at shepherds bush empire 97" prior to buying this video. When I ordered it I really didn't know what to expect. I mean, I loved Live at shepherd's bush and I wasn't sure as I thought that perhaps I was going to get a "repeat" of that video without the "Post" songs or something of the sort. But I must say that I was very surpreised when I finally watched it. One thing in particular. This video feels very personal. In the little "interviews" with Björk between songs she displays all her "charm".....some of her innocence or perhaps a bit about the way she sees the world (how she couldn't live without her ears, how she writes her songs, how she met her musicians, etc). But the "up close and personal" aspect of this video doesn't just end with the interviews. Her performance on stage feels very personal. Live at Shepherds was a very good performance but sometimes it just felt as if there was no audience there but in Vessel you get a completely different feeling. She even waves and smiles at the crowd. As for the performance, and just as in LASB97, I must say that once again it's superb. Perfect voice....I'm still baffled about how does she do it. The video has every song from debut except for "Like someone in love" (if I remember correctly) and it features an unpublished song (well, at least for those who don't have the japanese version of "Debut") called "Atlantic". This is really a fantastic song (a shame that it wasn't included in any album) and it sounds a great deal better in the live performance in "Vessel" that in the studion version in the japanese "Debut". Those who have watched LASPE97 will probably recognize the mixer (Leyla Arab) and someone that seems to be a very young Guy Sigsworth. So, is it worth buying. YES indeed. If you're a Björk fan you're sure to enjoy the live performance AND the "interviews" because (despite sounding like a Björk-addict) she's absolutely charming in those interviews....very chaming indeed.

First off, Debut is my least favorite of Bjork's albums. When I saw this at the store I couldnt help but buying it though (its bjork, it cant be bad!) So I started it up expecting it to be a little better than the live on MTV Unplugged DVD. Well, I was very suprised!! I believe this is my second favorite Bjork concert DVD next to RoH. Bjork is so awesome :)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST Bjork DVD's!, July 5, 2005
This review is from: Bjork - Vessel (DVD)
There is something about Bjork that is in one word: UNIQUE. She's not the typical drop-dead gorgeous type of woman that we are used to seeing 99% of the time in pop culture, and yet her cuteness and eccentricity is far more raw and beautiful. She has a very innocent and yet mysterious way of describing the world. In this DVD it's just a treat to see it. And her performances i believe were far better than the MTV Unplugged versions, in this DVD she seems to be much more raw and edgy, as well as having more of a voice about how she felt during a certain time and place. Not to mention that the whole DVD in general was well done and very unique and incredible. Highly recommended!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well done, a definite musthave, October 8, 1999
This review is from: Bjork - Vessel [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is excellent. It is filmed very well for a live perfromance. It includes almost everything from Debut plus "Atlantic" a beautiful song. There are interviews with Bjork and she is adorable. It's fun to watch over and over. You must have this to add to your Bjork collection!

vessel was the first björk video i purchased, so it holds a special place in my heart. since i own it on VHS + laser disc, i wasn't planning to buy it on dvd. my boyfriend surprised me with it one afternoon, and it brought back a flood of memories.

the concert is fabulous, and the mini interviews with björk are sooo cute!

the dvd quality and sound is excellent, and i think this is one of her best live concerts! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bjork video -- live show + interview, April 12, 1999
By A Customer

This video is a collection of interview snip-its with a live show of tracks off Debut. Live versions of the studio cuts are a really nice thing to hear. A must have for any Bjork fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars WE LOVE BJORK!!, June 23, 2001
This review is from: Bjork - Vessel [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! IT IS SO COOL! It has wonderful concert footage including an alternate in-concet version of her great song "Atlantic" with percussion and flute. But BEST of all, it has little interview bits with her, which are the BEST! (I used that word twice, didn't I. Hee hee.) In these she shares her wonderful intellegant opinion on a variety of things, from dreams, to chosing people in her band, to the feelings she has about being an Icelandic immigrant to England, which makes many soo soo cute and soo soo quotable statments which are "must-hears" for the entire human race to live their lives by. My main message... BUY THIS BJORK TAPE! IT'S AN ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE FOR ANY AND EVERY COLLECTION!!

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good show from a very nice first album, August 3, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bjork - Vessel (DVD)
i purchased this dvd recently.

its a concert with little bjork interviews in between.

the picture is good, the audio is dolby 2.0.... 5.1 or dts would have been better.

she used mostly real instruments. like drums, electric bass and such. i would have rather she just had an apple computer up there. the live instruments dont have the same punch as her studio album.

debut was a great cd with great catchy songs so i wanted to see a live show of it. this satisfied me.

there is also a dvd of her mtv unplugged out there that i recommend. it has many songs from debut and she is dressed pretty cute.
