This review is from: The Vessel Tinaja (Paperback)
I found this to be an interesting read. But, I don't think it is for everyone, as it was a little strange. Read the previews on it before buying.

A Charming Look At The Old Town,
By
This review is from: The Vessel Tinaja (Paperback)
There's no secret that author Randy Cribbs is in love with St. Augustine Florida as his works pay tribute to the nation's oldest city in spades. "The Vessel" is a story about the discovery (or rediscovery) of a shell (the vessel) that grants the user immortality.
Those familiar with Cribbs' work would probably know that the basis of the novel comes from his short story "So Little Time, Maybe" from his collection of short stories and poems called "Tales from The Oldest City: St. Augustine." Overall, I have to say I preferred the tale in short story form. This is not to say that The Vessel is a shoddy book by any means, it simply doesn't have the same punch it did in short story form. This becomes a problem when it isn't addressed (in either version) where exactly did the mystical chalice come from. Looking past that, "The Vessel" is a tale that can be read in one-two afternoons and features enough colorful characters to make the journey enjoyable, though one-time visitors and residents of St. Augustine would find it that much more enjoyable. Hope this helps. |
