The Brig by Jordy Smith is a digital tide and train watch that can track the tide at over 200 beaches worldwide for the next 20 years. It also offers a host of other high end features like a digital tide graph that features current tide height, quick access to Vestal's own custom training mode with 'Suffer and Recover' interval timer, and Heat Mode with countdown timer. The watch strap is secured to your wrist with a new patent pending OKTOLOCK system. The OKTOGRIP raised pattern on the underside of the band means significantly less rubber contact against your skin providing greater breathability, more flexibility, and a lighter feel on your wrist. This is a brand new watch, and no matter what website you go to there is only one view (picture) of this watch. I'd wait to buy it till you see it in person or find a website with multiple views because the watch's face is a big oversized face/head which I wasn't expecting (it looks a little big on my wrist). I thought it would be comparable in size to the Nixon Lodown or Rip Curl's similar tide watch. I'm getting used to it, but it's not what I expected. NEGATIVE- I can't get it off military time, and the small instruction manual it comes with doesn't say anything about it. I will call their customer service department for help- if I can't change it to normal, non-military time I will return the watch. Also- the new "Okto-lock" system (the raised bumbs on the inside of the watch bands) are more annoying than helpful and leave little circle imprints on your wrist sometimes when you take the watch off (and no I don't have it on too tight). This feature might be more helpful if your actually in the water with the watch, but it doesn't mention that in the advertising, only that it would "breathe better on your wrist". The overall quality of the watch is pretty sick, I bought the black on black (no white) one and so far I've gotten a lot of props on it. As far as the actual tide function, I don't use it for that so look elsewhere on how well that part works.

For those of you tired with checking daily surf reports, this watch is a must! Now I normally don't write reviews for things I have ordered on Amazon.. But this watch is an exception. It feels great being able to glance down at your wrist, fiddle with your watch for a minute, and know the tides. Hands down the best surfing/tide watch on the market. It is designed for the ASP World Tour and the Heat and Train modes are fully customizable and fun to use while out on the water. I was amped on the watch and could barely wait for it to arrive...When it came I was even more pleased with it than I expected to be! Make sure you get one with the new and improved oktogrip or whatever it's called, I tried both the old and the new and the new one is a little more comfortable. (Personally, I didn't even mind the old one that much...) I live on the Northern California coast and have used the custom beach feature to dial my watch for my area. The tides are accurate within a minute here on the mendo coast. Some have whined about the face of the watch being too large...ignore them. For those of you considering similar competing companies watches and trying to decide-Get the vestal, you will not be disappointed. Do I need to say more? I am heading to Australia and I plan on putting this watch to the test in another hemisphere. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. If you are a serious surfer, this watch is worth every single penny. Probably will rock a Vestal until the end. You're welcome Vestal.

Excellent watch. The octo-lock thing is kinda annoying, but it says in the online manuel to please wear one setting looser due to it. Lol, that makes the system useless because its too loose. Other than that, the watch is perfection. This is the best tide watch hands down! I actually had the five main tide watches and decided on this beastly watch. The five were the trestles rip curl oceansearch, nixon lodown, outsider tide, freestyle tide 4.0 and this beast. The outsider was morbidly obese faced, and the lodown was hard to set up a custom location off of basic mode, it wouldnt save. The freestyle lagged in the tide aspect, it was less polished. The ripcurl and the vestal was a very tough decision. The vestal was more polished, and had a newer interface. Therefore, the tides would last longer. WINNER! But seriously, this is the sleekest, sexiest, and most polished tide watch. And it has the most polished interface (sleekest too). Plus, this is the only watch that has the indian river inlet, delaware programmed into it. The freestyle was the most confortable, but i might forget its there, so i couldnt choose that. Besides, im clumsy, and it has chrome on it, so that would be ruined. Now lemme tell you, i love nixon, so i was dissapointed. But seriously, you really cant go wrong with the rip curl, freestyle, or vestal. Dont worry! I didnt forget the gshock, it just didnt fit me right. Besides, they are bulky and not very sexy. I could just go on and on about how this watch is awesomer, but i gotta end the review. To sum it up, this is a beastly watch. Oh yeah, something that i forgot to say earlier, this watch will fit just about anyone's wrist from a 12 year old, to a really big wrist, this watch will fit you. I'd be very surprised if it didn't (for the exception you have an unusually skinny wrist)!
