5.0 out of 5 stars Truly a great CD
My favorite song is Satisfied with Vestal & Dolly and second would be Vestal and George Jones. I have been a long time fan of both Vestal and Dolly Parton and to finally hear the queen of gospel and the queen of country together is a true blessing. I can only hope that efforts like this continue in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Music from Vestal!, November 16, 1999
This review is from: Vestal & Friends (Audio CD)
Vestal strikes home again with this beautiful partnership with "Friends." Vince Gill is so great with her on Jesus Made A Way. I loved it and her comments inside about Vince's performance. Have not had a chance to hear the whole album yet, but I highly recommend anything this "Queen of Southern Gospel Music" does. She is surely a professional from the word GO! Love you Vestal!

5.0 out of 5 stars How can you go wrong?, October 19, 1999
This review is from: Vestal & Friends (Audio CD)
I have had the opportunity to listen to one track from this CD, and that is Vestal and Dolly Parton singing Martha Carson's gospel standard "Satisfied." If that were the only song on the whole CD it would be worth the price. Everything else is just a bonus.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Diva of Gospel, April 18, 2004

Don't be fooled by the packaging on this collection. If you have looked at it in stores look at it again here. When I first saw this in stores, I turned over to read the songs and saw Vestal listed on only one song. This site makes it plain that Vestal is featured on each song, but the packaging doesn't. BIG MISTAKE! There is no other voice like hers!

5.0 out of 5 stars white mahalia jackson?, February 18, 2002

i have been following the goodmans on the gaither's telecasts and i wish they would be featured more often. vestal is truly the QUEEN of Southern gospel. she has a voice as clear as a bell, emotional and it touches the heart when you hear her.

i just love the old time gospel favorites and have the video of the happy goodman from the 60-70's. my favorites? "God walks the dark hills" and also the song that featured howard's brother on guitar (forgive me but just can't remember his name rest his soul) -" Had it not been."

vestal - your voice is glorious. i am glad you did NOT go on to Opera!!

a fan in NJ

wish cassettes were available...

Vestal Goodman wanted to sing opera as a young lady and she would have been incredible. God had other plans for her and this release shows the evidence of that plan. Vestal shares the recording with artists from the secular and sacred music fields, but this recording belongs to the 1st Lady Of Gospel Music, Vestal Goodman! Get it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Miss Vestal, January 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Over the years I've heard Angel Band performed by numerous country music and bluegrass artists.
The duet on this CD that features Miss Vestal Goodman and George Jones is the best version I've ever heard. Each syllable of Angel Band's lyrics is infused with a transcendent spirituality by way of the God-given talents of these legendary vocalists.

This CD is great. Once again Vestal shows that she really is the Queen of Gospel. If you have not heard her sing, you need to purchase this CD. She is even better in person. She is the greatest. Love ya Vestal
