I have this excellent product. I like it so much I take it back and fourth with me to work everyday. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very well worth the money!, December 5, 2008
I have this excellent product. I like it so much I take it back and fourth with me to work everyday. I grew up poor but happy and now that I am on my own, I like to make sure I am getting my moneys worth of anything I buy. This ipod dock may be small but don't underestimate its high quality and simple design because of its size!

I compose music and am acutely aware of the tonal frequencies when listening to my music in different speakers. These speakers are extremely high quality and have a surprisingly full spectrum of sound. The high end frequencies (5k-20k hrtz) are crisp and clear and the low end frequencies such as the bass (80-140) and even a minute portion of sub the bass (40-79) comes through very nicely. I was really surprised and just sat there looking at these little speakers in amazement the first time I plugged in my ipod.

The handy remote makes it so convenient while at work, I don't have to get up and go over to the cabinet across the room when I get a call or some one stops by my office. The remote also accesses menu options on your ipod! I can find a new play list, choose to shuffle or repeat with the remote!!! Sometimes during lunch when I am out at the coffee shop with free wifi, I drain my ipod battery by downloading new apps or movies. Plugging in my ipod to this dock charges it back up!

I have to admit, I did not have to purchase this because I won it as a bingo prize. Had I walked past this little thing in a store I would not have given it a chance but now owning it for a week now, I absolutely love it! It is worth the money they are charging on Amazon!
It is an extremely high quality product!

I may even add a video response for this product later...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ipod Dock, December 8, 2008
By
This review is from: Vestalife Ladybug Portable Speaker Dock for iPod (Red/Black) (Electronics)
For the price, this is a great little speaker system for your Ipod. I have the Ipod touch, and use this docking station in my baby's nursery to play him music at night, and fun music during the day. It puts out some serious sound for being so little. We will enjoy this for years! I like that we can take it with us, as it is very portable, and doesn't take up much space on the bookshelf. It's a cute little system, and very unique in style! We have the red and black one, and it does resemble a ladybug. Very cute!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound from one-of-a-kind device, December 29, 2008

I had no idea if this device would work with my 3G iPhone, but given the price, and cool design, I decided to give it a try. Upon opening the box, I found a card from Vestalife that says the Ladybug "uses the latest circuitry to make it compatible with your iPhone." The card also says that Vestalife recommends that one place the iPhone in Airplane Mode to prevent audio interference.

When I docked my iPhone, I got a pop-up message on the phone that informed me that the device (the Ladybug) is not compatible with the phone; the message allowed me to place the phone in Airplane Mode.

The sound the ladybug puts out is terrific! I couldn't want for a better sound from such a device. It's cute, it's cool, it's small, and it's portable. Other than the non-compatibility with my iPhone (which I really don't care about) I have no hang-ups about this device. I highly recommend it.

I bought the Ladybug at Costco for $86.99. I got the blue Element Skateboards special edition model; this model sells on Vestalife's web site for $125.

This is very nice. Small and great sound. It rquires 4 AA batteries to make it portable. I wish it had a built in LED battery that whould charge and not eat any batteries. THAT whould make this speaker worth the price for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars love it!!, February 3, 2009

i am 30+ and i love this little bug! the only draw back i see (or hear) is in higher volume heavy bass songs. it has 5 lit up volume indicators each has a range of 5 sound increases before the next. it is perfect for a small room but not for a large one. it does get surprisingly loud and remains quite clear unless im listenin to biggie or uncle al or nas but my simon an garfunkel beatles and al green del phonics are all beautiful out of this small machine I listen to a lot of different kinds of music and i recommend you put your ipods' EQ to the OFF position for normal use and with some old school rap or new school hip hop or even buju banton put the EQ on bass reducer and you will get alot of enjoyment outta this little bug for years to come...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, March 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I received my Ladybug today, immediately docked my Nano and it worked perfectly on AC power. The sound was much richer and louder than I had thought it would be. I am very surprised and pleased. One suggestion I have is that if you install batteries in your Ladybug, take them out before transporting it anywhere. The power button is quite large, and could very easily be turned on unknowingly, by just lying the bag down or putting it in your luggage or another bag with batteries installed. If you did not have your power cord, or laptop and USB cord, and were depending on battery power, you would be out of luck if it stayed on until they ran down. Other than not having a hold or lock switch to prevent that from happening by accident, I love this Ladybug, and am planning on using it at home and on the go constantly. Great Purchase.Vestalife Ladybug Portable Speaker Dock for iPod (Silver/Black)

4.0 out of 5 stars wings above othersL..., May 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this after reading the musician's review (pops up first on amazon). The shipping said this one would take 4-6 wk and I did not want to wait so long so I also bought basically-same-priced JBL micro on stage which is not in the same league at all. I am very sensitive to sound; my 2 stereo systems at home are BOSE, which I prefer because I can listen at lower volumes than on "standard" stereo systems and still discriminate tones/words. If you have a Bose system, you know what I mean. Anyway, I guess my hearing is "marginal" or something--I cannot make out words or discriminate sounds from lower quality audio devices related to hearing injury.

Ladybug appears smaller than the Ipod Bose speaker (from what I can remember, it has been a while since I shopped for that). It is very spherical when closed, but it fits on my window ledge, about 5-6 inches I think, with no problem. The sound is very high quality. If Ladybug was not fitting the bill, I probably would invest in the Bose product, but it seems like for now, I really can't tell the difference and I am pretty sensitive to such things for whatever that is worth. I am ordering a second one for downstairs so I don't have to keep carrying it with me all around the house. So far I have been using it in shower, and you can put the volume up over the shower and it doesn't cause sound quality deterioration. I have also been using it just for listening to music including rock and electronica/trance and audiobooks.

The JBL, besides being poorly constructed and does not charge the iPod unless you go through all these contortions, sounds very tinny and like my first radio "boombox" I had when I was 10. The Ladybug is larger than the JBL but it doesn't take up that much more countertop space and if I had experienced the sound quality difference of the Ladybug first, I would have never purchased the JBL. It is a little more pleasing to the eye than the JBL also. I was thinking of giving the JBL to by sister, but that doesn't seem right, as it is such a piece of junk in my opinion, I wouldn't want her to feel all happy and appreciative and then have the realization settle in that it really is just junk.

The one thing I do not like about the Ladybug is the remote, but it could be me or something I have done to the remote by keeping it in the bathroom. The remote just seems like it works slowly, like it takes a while before the iPod/speaker accept the change I am requesting. Sometimes I get impatient and use the iPod dial instead. But I think the remote may have some moisture in it. Even though I stored it outside of the shower, I have tried using it when I was still in the shower, to change songs or volume (which I did with my Bose wave system without problem. anyway). I still might be getting used to the iPod organization, as that is still new to me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little unit!, January 9, 2010
By
I was attracted to this little unit by the clever design, and then bought one because the sound was so good, especially for a unit of this size. It does not have the power to cut across a large room, but for a kitchen player it's more than adequate, and the sound quality is good enough that in the right location it is pleasant listening. I have found inadequate bass response to be fairly common in small players, but with its little sub-woofer the Ladybug stands above the rest I have heard.

I am not too fond of the way a Pod wiggles when docked, supported only by the connector, but if you use the remote it's no big deal. And I must comment on battery life, it is the price one must pay for a design like this- only 4 AA cells run it, and while I have not done a scientific study, it seems you had best plan on having the power supply handy- I'd guess 3-4 hours continuous play. Slightly more alarming, I changed all 4 last time I used it and it sat for several weeks. When I tried it last night it was completely dead. I am sure a different type of cell would offset this drawback, but those lithiums get expensive after awhile.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, February 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This dock has a great design, attractive and occupies a small footprint (especially with the speaker "wings" folded up). Sound quality is much better than I expected for such a small device, has fairly rich, full sound.

I wanted to use this device primarily to listen to streaming music via the Sirius app, rather than listen to the music stored on my iPod. This device is mainly oriented to playing iPod music; the remote control only controls the menus under the iPod's "Music" applet. When I would mount the iPod while playing Sirius and then turn on the dock, the dock would stop the Sirius app and switch to the iPod's stored music. It took me a few tries before I realize the sequence has to be: start streaming app (e.g. Sirius), turn on dock, THEN mount the iPod. Once I found that out, I was pretty happy.

Aside from being unable to control the iPod's interface outside of the Music applet using the control, the one other complaint I have is that if you ARE trying to maneuver through the Music applet's menus, e.g. Artists, Playlists etc., the scroll up/down function moves very slowly, and only one menu entry at a time. So if you're on your Artist menu at "Abba", and you want to move down to "Yello", and you have a lot of artists, it's going to take some time ... you're more likely going to want to undock the player, switch to the artist manually, and redock it.

Other than that, this is a great docking station for the price, and I recommend it.
