The Springer Handbook of Auditory Research presents a series of synthetic reviews of fundamental topics dealing with auditory systems. Each volume is independent and authoritative; taken as a set, this series will be the definitive resource in the field. This volume contains a coherent collection of synthetic reviews on the vestibular system: the component of our auditory and nervous systems that is responsible for our sense of balance. This volume will be of interest to neuroscientists and otolaryngologists involved in studying the vestibular and auditory senses.

1.0 out of 5 stars Publisher cares little about book, June 25, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Vestibular System (Springer Handbook of Auditory Research) (Hardcover)
Pages 241 to 272 were missing from my copy. I told Springer Verlag about the problem. They noted my complaint but did nothing about it.
The book covers current research in depth, but it has little in the way of an overview of the vestibular system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vestibular System review, December 20, 2008
This review is from: The Vestibular System (Springer Handbook of Auditory Research) (Hardcover)
This is a must have book for basic science and clinical researchers with interest or focus on the vestibular system. This book represents the best comprehensive review of the anatomy, neurophysiology and associated neurotransmitters.

Read can be challenging at first due to the substantial depth, but the payoff is well worth the initial struggle for those new to the subject matter. A must have for the reference library of any future vestibular expert or student.
